BEST DESSERTS IN NASHVILLE

I have always had a craving for sugar that can’t be tamed, so when a friend and I planned a day entirely devoted to eating dessert, I could hardly wait.

We made a list of spots we wanted to check out, mapped out the route, and were on our way! If you find yourself in Nashville, Tennessee, definitely visit one (or all!) of these places.

12 South is a such a fun neighbourhood, and that is especially true when it comes to dessert. We started out our day of dessert at Las Paletas. This cute popsicle shop has tons of flavours that change daily. My favourite are the creamy fruit flavoured ones, but you can’t go wrong with any of them!

We headed to Five Daughters Bakery next. This shop freshly bakes their 100 layer doughnuts every day and they are known to sell out. The classic “King Kong” Maple Bacon doughnut is absolutely heavenly.

Whatever time of day you start to crave sweets, the Sprinkles Cupcake ATM has got you covered. There is a shop as well, but the experience of getting a freshly baked cupcake delivered via ATM, whether in the middle of the day or night, is something special.

The last stop in 12 South is Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams. They have surprising ice cream flavours like Sweet Potato and Torched Marshmallow in the fall and Sweet Cream Biscuits and Peach Jam. The staff will be happy to let you try as many as you like, so you should definitely taste as many as you can. My favourites are Brambleberry Crisp, Wildberry Lavender, and Riesling Poached Pear sorbet.

The desert doesn’t stop outside of 12 south. We headed to Biscuit Love next. They have biscuit doughnuts, or “Bonuts” if you will, that are served with Lemon Marscapone and Blueberry Compote. They taste just as good as they sound.

I can’t lie, after eating these Bonuts, we totally hit a sugar wall. It works out well though because now we have an excuse for another day devoted to dessert! Don’t let our sugar crash stop you from visiting other iconic dessert spots in Nashville like The Bang Candy Co., Pied Piper Creamery, or The Soda Parlour.

Looking for other things to do in Nashville? These are the must-dos!
