NEWGEN Recipients Spring/Summer ’14

Nine of London’s lucky and talented emerging fashion labels have received a sponsorship from NEWGEN to showcase their collections at London Fashion Week. Dating from 13th – 17th September, these growing fashion designers are presented with the opportunity of a life time thanks to the British Fashion Council.

NEWGEN has been associated with the BFC for three years now as a landmark support scheme for further developing the careers of hopeful fashion designers in the midst of the most crucial part of their career.

Identifying designer potential by the creativity, strong design aesthetic and point of difference, NEWGEN’s nine chosen aspiring designers are named as  J.JS Lee, Lucas Nascimento, Marques’Almeida, Simone Rocha, Sister by Sibling, 1205, Nasir Mazhar, Sophia Webster and Liam Fahy.

Topshop is a strong supporter of young designers and has established its relationship with the BFC for many years by sponsoring NEWGEN since 2001. Among many ways of being supportive, Topshop provides some of the winning designers with show space as well as a section of their flagship store in Oxford Circus.

Previous NEWGEN winners include Alexander McQueen, Holly Fulton, Marios Schwab, Matthew Williamson, and many more. The BFC’s faith in the minds and talents of young British fashion designers is refreshing. With the sponsorship of NEWGEN and the support of Topshop, even the majority of the designers who don’t win receive exposure, connections, and an unmatchable experience.
