Ex Vogue editrix Carine Roitifeld, renowned for her sleek and predominantly monochromatic sartorial style, is set to add a distinctly fashionable edge to this year’s amfAR Cinema Against AIDS Gala. Considered to be the highlight of the Cannes International Film Festival, which kicked off today, the fundraiser will, for the first time, feature a full-scale fashion show curated by the super-stylist and based around her idea of what constitutes the perfect black wardrobe.
Naturally, the contributing brand list reads like a who’s who across the fashion globe with pieces from Alexander Wang to Roberto Cavalli, Chanel to Christopher Kane. And as the entire collection is set to be auctioned off for the charity in a single lot at the event on May 24th at the uber glamorous Hôtel du Cap-Eden Roc in Cap d’Antibes, the question on our lips is simply, who will be the winning buyer? Although Karl Lagerfeld, alongside Janet Jackson and Kylie Minogue, will be chairing the evening, we’ve already ruled him out as we can’t imagine he has any need for more black in his wardrobe.
Who do you think could do with a shot of sombre black in their current get up? We’re suggesting Katy Perry and possibly Jessie J!
