Plans for Lanvin's (Albert Elbaz) Claridges Christmas Tree

We always love to see what the Claridges’ Christmas Tree will look like every year and this year definitely won’t disappoint as Alber Elbaz (the man behind Lanvin) is set to create it!

The Lanvin creative director has been given the prestigious task to design the exclusive London hotel’s festive centerpiece and has promised a “colourful and whimsical” tree.

He added: “I wanted to create an installation that carries the spirit of Lanvin, an infusion of tradition and modernity at the same time.”

Thomas Kochs, general manager at Claridges, told WWD: “It is simply wonderful to see this talented designer decorate the tree in his whimsical style.”

The tree – which will be unveiled on the morning of 22nd November and will remain on display until 2nd January – will be decorated with marionettes wearing Elbaz’s take on Claridge’s staff uniforms.

As well as creating Claride’s Christmas tree, it was recently revealed Alber is to release a book.

The designer’s first tome will document the design and production process involved in creating a Lanvin collection and will feature 700 pages of words and pictures. Although reports are that the first few pages will be blank. He explained to the Los Angeles Times newspaper: “That is how I start every day.”
