As the fashion elite prepare to hop across the pond to our fair city, we’re bringing you all the gossip from the final shows at NYC.

Over the past week  we’ve seen muted palettes with luxe fabrics and a whole lot of fur. Three American greats Ralph Lauren, Calvin Klein and Tommy Hilfiger, rounded off the week with their all American collections.  Let’s start with Ralph, who showed a collection with a delicious selection of chocolate shades punctuated with caramels and black. Featuring expensive fabrics from rich wools to soft suede and tweed, his collection comprised of tailored trousers and jackets juxtaposed against soft floral floaty dresses and slouchy knits. Dresses were paired with cashmere cardigans and once again fur cropped up, with the models keeping toasty in fur leggings.

Yet again at Calvin Klein, we saw another sleek, simple and sophisticated collection, artistic director Francisco Costa‘s collection comprised mainly of black and white with the odd injection of cobalt blue. The models tottered along in sky-high heels, wearing futuristic jackets with rounded shoulders and raglan sleeves, teamed with little make-up and slicked hair. However it would be hard to pull off this look if you are not a stick thin model.

Finally Tommy rounded things off with his preppy chic collection complete with floral skirts teamed with shirts and cardigans. It was a real mix with smart tailoring, soft voluminous coats and stunning evening gowns, while soft dove grey slouchy trousers were teamed with bright orange red blouses. Tommy followed suit by sticking to a neutral palette with beiges, grey, navy and the odd shot of colour. Models were accessorised with gorgeous oversized bags, knee high hiking style boots and the ever faithful black opaque.

As we bid farewell to New York we look forward to the delights of London.
