It is barely possible to be any more embroiled in the world of fashion than Julia Restoin Roitfeld. She was pretty much born on the front row. Of course any being born in Paris has a little bit of a head start. But let’s begin with her mother. A former model, Carine Roitfeld was the editor-in-chief of Vogue Paris from 2001 to 2011, and in 2012 she became the founder and editor-in-chief of CR Fashion Book. Her father, Christian Restoin was the creator of a clothing line named Equipment, which he closed wen Carine became editor of Vogue Paris.

Far from consciously veering from her fashion destiny, just as Anna Wintour’s aspiring-lawyer-daughter was shown to in The September Issue, Julia looked to position herself very early on to maintain her family’s fashion legacy. She is a graduate of New York’s Parsons School of Design and has taken on internships at Baron & Baron, Visionaire and with photographer Craig McDean. Tom Ford also chose Julia as the face of his famed Black Orchid fragrance in 2006 and she has also been shot by Mario Testino for  Lancôme and modelled for Roberto Cavalli. Her partner and father of her daughter is Swedish model Robert Konjic and she counds those such as Lara Stone and Helena Christensen among her circle of friends.

In May last year Julia announced the birth of Romy, her daughter, which marked a new era in her fashion ventures. Julia has launched her own website, the namesake of which is her daughter. Romy & The Bunnies is a calm and ethereal web space that offers up graceful parenting advice as well as anecdotes and pictures from her own beautiful childhood. It seems that Julia is adding another modern facet to her family’s fashion involvement, in her online venture. She recently told Matches Fashion that she has become addicted to online shopping, that she does it whilst her daughter is sleeping. ‘I’ll see something on Facebook, or a blog [...] and just click through and buy’.

If that doesn’t inspire you to get ideas from all the fashion blogs out there then nothing will. Perhaps inevitably, Julia Restoin Roitfeld is acclaimed for her style. She has been imbibed with that inherent Parisienne style from an early age. Her choices are therefore at once inventive, classic and entirely covetable. Far from being a slave to the fashion industry’s catwalk model shape, Julia boasts glowing health and feminine curves that have succeeded in wowing so many in the industry thus far. Tom Ford declared her the epitome of his idea of beauty and it seems the rest of the industry is in agreement.
