GOLDEN GLOBES FASHION PREDICTIONS 2014

It’s that time of year again! We’re hitting awards season. And first up? The Golden Globes. It is the first chance that the big stars of 2014 have to make their mark this year. Last year saw the revival of the fishtail silhouette, a penchant for over-one-shoulder hair styles and a wealth of soft blushed hues gliding along the red carpet. We’ve had a little think here in the Beauty and the Dirt offices about what we can expect some of the nominees to be donning this year.

Amy Adams and Marchesa AW14

Amy Adams and Marchesa AW14

Amy Adams last year wowed in a form fitting pale Marchesa AW13 number, and after the rapturous acclaim she received, we see no reason why she will not be dipping into the fashion house’s AW14 collection. We fell in love with this one-shouldered tiered and embellished number and we are sure Ms Adams will too. What better to contrast with the racy 70s combinations she slinked around in during American Hustle?

Naomi Harris and Dolce and Gabbana AW14

Last year Naomi Harris wore a competition winning eco-friendly design to the Golden Globes, though she has a reputation for favouring creations that flash a little more through sheer fabrics and lace. Having sighed our way dreamily through the Dolce and Gabbana AW14 collection, we have found a design that perfectly treads the line between Naomi Harris’ daring side and the class and sophistication she portrays in her role as Winnie in A Long Walk To Freedom.

Jennifer Lawrence and Christian Dior Couture AW14

Jennifer Lawrence is a Dior girl through and through. We think this cream look with the geometric design at the top that flows seamlessly into the wave like folds at the bottom is simple enough in design for the fuss-free American Hustle actress, yet feminine enough to show off her beautiful features to their best.

Sandra Bullock and Jenny Packham AW14

Sandra Bullock flits between elaborate girlish designs and clean-cut no-nonsense silhouettes. Her embellished Jenny Packham dress worn at last year’s Golden Globes erred on her more feminine side. This year the Jenny Packham AW14 collection includes a dress that we think is perfect for Sandra Bullock and her two-toned ways. Russet and flowing, the dress falls lightly and gracefully over the body whilst being synched in at the waist by a striking black sash.

Cate Blanchett and McQueen AW14

Cate Blanchett is a hard one to predict when it comes to red carpet attire. One minute she will be exuding 50s glamour in a burgundy silk Donna Karan creation, the next she’ll be turning heads in an abstract Givenchy combination. This year we’ve predicted McQueen. This look from the fashion house’s AW14 collection is characteristically quirky yet elegant and striking. Pair with an up-do to show off those enviable cheekbones and she has a sure-fire crowd pleaser on her hands.

Kate Winslet and Jenny Packham AW14

When not draped in gorgeous designs from Stella McCartney and Ben di Lisi, Kate Winslet is another Jenny Packham devotee. It will be one of her first major appearances since the birth of little Bear, and we think this decolletage flattering look from the Jenny Packham AW14 collection is the perfect statement dress for her return.
