The aim of the event is to win the coveted River Island Gold Award which gives the winning student £20,000 to kick-start their career. Plus last year the award was presented by Elle’s Editor in Chief, Lorraine Candy, Matthew Williamson, Giles Deacon and Richard Bradbury CBE, CEO of title sponsor River Island, which is a treat in itself!

However this year there’s even more on offer with the following event features now on offer:

Graduate Fashion Week Inspiration Award - the award seeks to acknowledge the contribution to fashion from an inspirational figure, be that a designer, a model, an actor or even a musician.  The recipient will push the boundaries of fashion and inspire and influence the graduates of 2010.

Ranking Photographic Campaign – Rankin’s images will feature a selection of garments from this year’s ‘ones to watch’ and will be used in pre-event media coverage as well as forming a focal point display at Earls Court

Protégé Project – the launch of this has been quickly picked up by a number of industry leaders has ensured that the campaign has taken off.  In the first year alone ten companies joined the campaign with businesses such as Karen Millen, John Lewis, Matches and the Pentland Group taking part. In 2010, Graduate Fashion Week will be building on this platform to push the campaign to more businesses and to offer even more graduates that first vital step onto the careers ladder.
