The highly anticipated film, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, based on the first book from the popular trilogy by Stieg Larsson, hits theaters at the end of this month, but beginning 14th December you’ll be able to dress like the edgy main character, Lisbeth Salander. Trish Summerville, the costume designer for the film, has partnered with H&M to design a collection inspired by the style of the brilliant computer hacker. Leather jackets, combat boots, and “Swenglish flag” t-shirts (worn-looking tees with an image of the Swedish and American flags blended together ) are a few of the key pieces that make up this “edgy collection.”

However, Trish hopes that the collection will be a hit with girls of all different styles. “I hope what I’m conveying with the collection is anybody who can shop at H&M being female can go in and find a piece to go with their wardrobe. I don’t want it just to be girls that are kind of tomboy-ish or punky, I hope it’s someone that’s quite feminine as well, that could pick up one of the denim jackets or the leather pieces and mix it with a floral dress. I hope there’s something in there that’ll appeal to everyone.”

The collection is really about the whole look, rather than Rooney Mara as Lisbeth Salander specific pieces. Lisbeth’s style is very distinct, and there’s nothing flashy about her wardrobe. Trish describes her look as “internal,” and says that she “wears what she would consider classic pieces to her.” We love the look and think it’s spot on. The collection will be available at H&M/Divided departments and online.
