Dating back to the early 20th century, it has taken a while for the convenience of the all-in-one jumpsuit to be appreciated. The ever-changing garment has been reinvented many times over the decades, updating the silhouette frequently for a more modern feel. Ranging from boxy, Space-Age cuts of the ’60s to wide-legged ’70s versions, the all-in-one has been looked at as a daring fashion risk rather than the simple, go-to outfit that it is.

This summer, however, that tables have turned and the easy look has been recognized as appropriate beach-lounging and cocktailing attire by celebrities such as Miranda Kerr, Carey Mulligan, and Jennifer Lawrence.

Over the past few months the all-in-one ensemble has even gotten the green light for the red carpet, with stars sporting the now-popular suits from designers such as Vivienne Westwood, Balenciaga, and Christian Dior.

The jumpsuit’s reputation for being universally unflattering has gone out the window with the curve-hugging silhouette of the ’90s, and the fresh alternative to any suit or dress is finally getting the recognition it deserves. The all-in-one provides convenience (although possibly not when attempting to use a porta–loo in super speedy time) and confidence in a sensual yet masculine way for any woman who has the attitude to pull it off – so pull it on and go.
