Milan is considered the capital of fashion and design in Italy, not to mention the richest city in the country. Milan Fashion Week is famously characterized by its glamorous parties, mega show productions, and sexy styles, but this year people are expecting to see everything toned down as with the previous fashion week. Here are a few designers to keep your eye out for.

Fisico, owned by designer Cristina Ferrari, has created beautifully crafted top-of-the-line beach wear, dubbed “beach couture”, the first of its kind. Ferrari produces two main lines of clothing: a woman’s line under the name Fisico, which includes its beach couture line and a men’s line, which operates under the same name. Fisico’s clothes are hugely influenced by Brazilian themes, mixed with sensuality and bright colors.

The best combination of words to describe C’N’C Costume National is “street and couture”. Thought to be the best luxury brand that mixes these two elements and the label’s designer is Italian Ennio Capasa, a legend in his own right. C’N’C was created from Capasa’s main line Costume National to reflect the trends of the new street generation. With references to the 80’s punk culture, loose fitting trousers and daring colors, no other brand matches the urban and chic feel of C’N’C.

Gabriele Colangelo has hit the hit Italian scene with a bang. Winning the contest “Who’s on Next?” in 2008, organized by Vogue Italia and Alta Roma, his collection is filled with wools, satins, silks, and embroidery with Swarovski crystals creating a truly elegant look that is worthy of the “Made in Italy” title.  This up and coming designer is definitely one to keep your eye on.

Since the opening of their flagship store in Milan in 2007, along with an exclusive champagne bar, Dsquared2 has taken off in the fashion world. Run by the Canadian twin brothers Dean and Dan Caten the label combines rock chic, with biker jackets and denim to sophisticated and sexy, with perfumes and shades.

Milan Fashion Week will run from September 23rd-29th.
