With New York and London behind us, the style spotlight has shifted toward Italy now that Milan Fashion Week is well underway! Take a look at a few choice looks from the shows and street style snaps so far:
Emilio Pucci and Blumarine both plumped for an emphasis on monochrome, prints and cape silhouettes, with Emilio Pucci sending a particularly striking look down the runway that combined each of those facets with a flash of tan suede, a high collar and fur.
Sportmax’s AW14 collection combined themes of leopard print, black fabric and leather contrasts, red and blue streamed through prints and colour blocking and oversized fur pieces. It was the most Instagrammed show of 21st February and we can see why! Time to buy a sturdy leather belt to synch in the waist of…everything it seems!
Gucci kicked off the schedule, presenting an autumn collection that heavily featured muted tones and a demure color palette. While some critics said it was underwhelming, the collection certainly felt appropriate for the fall season.
There were plenty of pastels, an interesting choice for fall, but the line presented looks that were girly and elegant. There was even a bit of a 60’s vibe from some of the pieces.
An up-and-coming name in the fashion world, Fausto Puglisi‘s free-spirited designs featured the intense color blocking we just saw on the London Fashion Week catwalks. We love the youthfulness and energy these pieces are sure to bring to the autumn season! There was a strong and rather blatant New York feel to the collection, with many of the designs emblazoned with images of the Statue of Liberty. The geometric colour blocking was reminiscent of 80s print trends, calling to mind some of the high-powered ladies that will have been clipping their stiletto heels along the streets of New York in the same era.
At a glance you might pass by these creations of footwear without a second glance. But do a double take and this is what you get! Inspired teaming of a deceptively unique design with the normality of ripped denim and a similarly toned overcoat gives an air of eccentricity without overdoing it. We love this street style snap!
Alberta Ferretti gave a serious nod to nature during the Milan show, clearly drawing inspiration from the great outdoors. Colors like moss green and crinkled textures evoked the imagery of trees and forests, and there were even a few bright hues and metallics mixed in to create a subtly glamourous collection.
The most anticipated show of today, and likely the entire week in Milan, is Prada. We can hardly wait to see what the rest of the week holds as Fashion Month continues in Milan!
