Prada A/W 2010

Milan Fashion Week is just warming up, but already we’ve seen industry greats from the one and only Prada to D&G. From retro chic to sport luxe, catch up on all the latest fashion gossip.

Miuccia Prada opted for a lady-like chic collection with a little ‘raunch’ added in for good measure. The collection had a real 60’s vibe with high necklines and A-line frilled hemlines.  A dark, yet rich palette, the collection comprised mainly of black and charcoal with the odd injection of burgundy and camel. Collarless double breasted suits tied in nicely with the 60’s theme, yet the odd bit of patent leather sexed up the collection. Complete with chic checked prints, thick woolen tights and once again the odd spot of fur, the models towering beehives echoed the overall tone.

Dolce and Gabbana A/W 2010

This year Dolce and Gabbana had a slight après ski theme with sweet snowflake knits, however we can’t see too many snow bunnies wearing the leotard style knit on the slopes. Sharing Prada’s palette of burgundy, black and caramels, reindeer print cardigans cinched in at the waist and fur lined boots were sent down the runway. Chunky cable knit style corsets paired with floaty skirts caught our eye, while chiffon light dresses, and satin silky shorts were juxtaposed against all that rather heavy knitwear.  Proving fur is here to stay this A/W, they followed suit with fellow designers  featuring fur in almost every outfit.

Fur was also fabulous for Fendi and Just Cavalli, the former, brought us a clean, chic collection, showing cape coats and patchwork style furs. Billowing blouses and coats were belted over flowing skirts, displaying a muted palette of neutrals with the odd mustard injection. As flamboyant as ever, Cavalli  brought us a glam grunge look with animal print mix leggings, mini kilts, chiffon tops and fur bombers.
