It’s that time of year again and we couldn’t be more excited… New York Fashion Week has arrived!  All of the top fashion houses from around the world have shown up at NYC’s Bryant Park to debut their new lines and unveil the latest trends.  Everyone from Yigal Azrouel to Miss Sixty have begun their runway shows and the initial reactions have been overwhelmingly positive.

One major reoccurring theme was Designers doing their part to uplift and give us hope during this current economic gloom.  Elle magazine points out that Diane Von Furstenberg’s show was “cosy-chic for New York’s ultra glam women, who will be looking out for value in the year ahead, and who need their wardrobes to be as adaptable and versatile as ever.”

With designers like Vera Wang, Monique L’Hullier, and Betsey Johnson opting not to show this season due to the current economic climate, we were pleasantly surprised to see the tents still buzzing with trendsetting style. The futuristic look of metallic tones and jutting silhouettes are here to stay, which were visible in a number of shows including BCBG Max Azria and Costello Tagliapietra. In other news, London’s designing duo Thea Bregazzi and

Justin Thornton of Preen amazed its audience with their sci-fi inspired collection and the Barbie 50th anniversary show drew one of the biggest crowds at the tents.

And as we all know, Fashion Week is just as much about celebrity sightings as it is fashion.  While Sarah Jessica Parker and Anna Wintour were spotted at the Alexander Wang show, Lucy Lui and January Jones were seen in the front row of Herve Leger.  And who says fashion is strictly for women?  Style enthusiasts Kanye West, Chace Crawford, and Jared Leto were spotted at the Calvin Klein men’s show over the weekend.  Yet, of course it wouldn’t be a star-studded event without Lindsay Lohan stirring up some trouble for herself.  While she was seen enjoying herself at the Charlotte Ronson runway show (Charlotte is the twin sister of Sam Ronson) she was later seen feuding with her DJ girlfriend at the after-party.  Lohan was even

photographed running after Sam and yelling, “Why are you doing this to me?”  Is another break-up on the horizon for these two? It sure looks that way!  With designers like Narcisco Rodriquez, Donna Karan, and Michael Kors up to show next, there is sure to be some more celebrity sightings and inevitable juicy encounters in the Big Apple… fabulous!
