Burberry has announced this week that Christopher Bailey is to be appointed to the position of Chief Creative and Chief Exectuve Officer. This follows the departure of Angela Ahrendts, who will take up a new position with Apple.

The following year he was named GQ Man of the Year for Emerging Talent in Menswear. He then won Designer of the Year six years later at the British Fashion Awards.

Christopher oversees all consumer-facing activities, including product design and development, creative marketing, store design, consumer technology. He has also been at the forefront of the brand’s recent venture into beauty. Christopher is credited with reinventing the ready-to-wear collections for Burberry, causing sensations down the catwalk with edgy designs and textures, from polka dots, to multi-coloured foil designs. For those who questioned his appointment in 2001, his latest appointment will seem well deserved.
