Giorgio Armani unveiled his latest store located along NYC’s Fifth Avenue on Tuesday night, attracting a bevy of A-List stars.  Armani fans like Milla Jovovich, Leonardo DiCaprio, Victoria Beckham, Robert DeNiro, Rachel Zoe, Liam Neeson, and Molly Sims were just some of the high profile guests who came out to support the Italian designer.  The star-studded event marks the first time that all of the Armani brands (Armani Collection, Emporio Armani, Armani Exchange, etc.) will be sold under one roof.  The massive flagship store, designed by famed architects Doriana and Massimiliano Fuksas, measures a whopping 43,000 square feet. That’s a whole lot of designer duds!  Inside, the boutique’s jet black floors, crisp white walls, and glass paneling reflect Armani’s signature class and subtle sophistication.  If you walk up the winding white staircase to the top floor, you’ll stumble upon “Dolce”, the store’s Italian restaurant which overlooks the museum-like shop.  Good shopping and good food? A combination not to be missed.

In light of the current economic climate, Armani felt a lavish dinner would be inappropriate, opting instead to donate the $1 million he would have spent to New York’s Fund for Public SchoolsNYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg, who attended the opening, joked that the charitable contribution “may even help produce the next Armani.”  Yet, we all know that it’s not a high fashion soiree without PETA making an appearance.  The pro-animal activists showed up at the red carpet dressed in bunny suits to protest Armani’s use of rabbit fur.  Minus the fur controversy, the store’s opening was a huge success for the designer and a milestone in his already remarkable career.
