Isabel Marant

Isabel Marant

If you were walking along Regent Street this morning there will have been a couple of things you might have noticed. Firstly the sky, there was a healthy dose of sun intermingled prettily with milk froth-esque clouds and and the pale pink and golden light of the morning. One of those sights that made you snuggle happily into your scarf and smile at your love of winter/London/mornings. And right about that moment, as you’re striding out past Banana Republic, you might just have been knocked sideways by a gaggle of speed walking shoppers as they sweep through the doors of H&M. Can you tell that’s how my morning went?

If you have graced the escalators at Oxford Circus tube station recently, there’ll be no need to explain to you why H&M was abuzz this morning. The staircase has been lined with shots of the Isabel Marant for H&M campaign well ahead of its launch today, building the anticipation to even greater proportions amongst central Londoners.

Isabel Marant is best known for her easy to wear silhouettes. Her skinny jeans and oversized cardigans and outerwear have proved the go-to look for fashion professionals, journalists and models in the most style forward cities across the world. Marant has worked with the highest echelons of designer names, Chloé, Martine Sitbon, and Claude Montana to name but a few. She founded her own label in 1994 and her collections have been amongst the most anticipated ever since.

Despite her quick rise to the top of the fashion power tower, Marant has remained beautifully down to earth, both in terms of her designs and even her prices. Isabel Marant has always prioritised sending pieces down the runway that she herself would wish to buy, and prices for everyday wear rarely stray past the three figure mark, a trait almost unheard of amongst the Paris Fashion Week set.

Isabel Marant follows the likes of Karl Lagerfeld, Maison Martin Margiela and Matthew Williamson in her partnership with H&M. If you are an avid fan but can’t quite manage to be a regular at her Bruton Street store just yet, then this collection is for you. The Isabel Marant pieces for H&M boast tribal prints, monochrome and warm earthy colour palettes as well as stud and matte gem embellishment. The knitwear is set to cause the most ruckus, with warm wool hooded cardigans arriving just in time for the cold snap that has whirled around London. Sienna Miller was seen huddling up in one such item at the launch party last night.

Here are our pick of some of our favourite must-haves:

 Model wears: jacket £199.99, trousers £69.99, T shirt £24.99, heels £99.99, From left: scarf £24.99, boots £149.99, bracelet £14.99, wool cardigan £79.99, earrings £14.99, top £59.99, sequinned cut-off trousers £149.99.

All items are available to buy on the H&M website and in store. Well. You’ll be placed in a queue if you attempt to browse the range online right now, and needless to say the stores are boasting crowds in more of a flurry than the population milling around Hamley’s on Christmas Eve. Be persistent though, it’s worth it we promise.
