Just before the fashion frenzy begins in Paris, Milan, New York and of course London, it’s the turn of couture. Kicking off in Paris the highlight so far has been John Galliano for Dior, his equestrian themed collection pulled in the likes of Anne Hathaway, Tina Turner and Kylie Minogue.

In true Dior Couture style it was over the top and an absolute spectacle with rich berry coloured riding jackets, voluminous duchesse satin skirts complete with riding crops and top hats, we wonder how many of Dior’s girls would go riding in Galliano’s get up?

Elsewhere Anne Valérie Hash raided designer and celebrity wardrobes to collate her couture collection. Featuring items such as a Chanel Jacket from Daphne Guinness, a sailor sweater from Jean Paul Gaultier and pyjamas from Lanvin’s Alber Elbaz,  she sent an eclectic, carefully constructed collection down the runway. Dubbed as ‘cast-off chic’ she cleverly transformed the pieces, with Gaultier’s stripped top being incorporated into a sleek, shiny one shouldered gown and a ballet slipper being re-worked into a glove.

Armani Prive Couture S/S

Often a red carpet favourite Armani Prive did not disappoint, the wearable collection seemed to centre around a moon theme, with a crescent moon somehow incorporated into every look, be it the fastening of a jacket or the curve and cut of a cocktail dress. Continuing with the sculpted shoulder, smartly tailored suits were sent down the runway in shiny Hi Tech fabrics giving the collection a slightly futurist feel.  Saving the best for last their finale dress with its structured skirt dripping in sequins caught everyone’s attention, we wonder how long it will be before we spot it on the red carpet.
