The shows in Paris just keep getting more and more fabulous, we have the latest scoop on the trends for next season and of course, the celebrity sightings!  Our top picks include heavy-hitters Alexander McQueen, Chanel, Valentino and PFW newcomer Antonio Berardi.

Alexander McQueen
Who Was There?

Beth Ditto, Annabel Neilson, and Giovanna Battaglia were among the star-studded audience who braved the debris-ridden set made almost entirely from the scraps of past McQueen shows.

The Look
It was mixed reviews after the McQueen show yesterday.  Some walked away confused (and almost disgusted) by the mismatch outfits, over the top costume makeup, and interesting headgear (one model had to balance two umbrellas on her head!).  Yet, others felt his work was a breath of fresh air amidst a rather monotone, played by the rules season. Personally, I think if you were to erase the questionable hair and makeup from your mind, you might find a few houndstooth jacket-skirt combos that you could see yourself in.

Chanel

The legendary design house attracted an all-star cast for its triumphant showcase at PFW.  Celebrity fans including Freida Pinto, Kate Moss and boyfriend Jamie Hince, Claudia Schiffer, Lily Allen, and Poppy Delevingne were all seen perched along the Chanel catwalk.

The Look
Never one to disappoint, Chanel produced a pristine and poised series of pieces for its fall ready-to-wear collection.  The genius that is Karl Lagerfeld (Chanel’s creative director) had his audience on the edge of their seats with his fitted black dresses, coats, and coat-dresses.  The charming pieces had classic Chanel twists with puffy collars and cuffs, white blouses, and lace detailing appearing on most.

Valentino

Many of the same celebs from the Chanel crowd showed their support at last night’s Valentino presentation.  There’s nothing like good catwalk-hopping!

The Look
Valentino’s new designing duo, Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pier Paolo Piccioli, took inspiration from the fun and flirty era of the sixties for the design house’s ready-to-wear fall collection.  In Valentino’s showcase, we saw everything from bright coloured sleeveless gowns to fur-trimmed and jewel-encrusted evening coats.  With standout pieces like an amazing leopard print cape jazzing up the runway, it’s safe to say that the Valentino name is in capable hands with Chiuri and Piccioli.

Antonio Berardi

Who Was There?

Top fashion journalists from around the globe, including writers for The New York Times, Vogue, and W, showed up to critique this up and coming designer.  Other high-profile fashion enthusiasts present at the Berardi showcase included buyers from Saks Fifth Avenue, Bergdorf Goodman, and Neiman Marcus.

The Look
The Italian-British designer is one of our favourite newcomers to the high-fashion scene.  First catching our eye with a corset dress he made for Gwyneth Paltrow last year, we’ve been following this talent ever since.  Berardi’s exquisitely tailored collection of eveningwear dresses, cropped jackets, and pantsuits showcased yesterday at PFW has further cemented the designer on our radar.  The gray sequined minidress with raised shoulders was our pick for his number one look.
