Paris Punk

The light-hearted look of Milan ’s Fashion Week stayed put in Italy, as punk styles hit the catwalks for Paris Fashion Week.
Starting things off on Thursday was the Balenciaga show on (30.09.10) which brought out leather, vests, and sleeveless button downs for an overall rock ‘n’ roll vibe. The brand also played homage to its past by incorporating its leaf-panelled print into many of the designs worn by models Miranda Kerr (who hid her baby bump very well), Chanel Iman, and to close the show, Gisele Bündchen.
Just a few hours after the Balenciaga show, Balmain also brought punk to the catwalk. The collection was littered with studs, safety pins and tears, with biker jackets being as prominent as the ripped jeans and torn shirts.
Jean Paul Gaultier also kept the distressed rocker look going at his show just two days later (02.10.10). Models rocked Joan Jett wigs, broad shouldered jackets and jean print jumpsuits. But the models paled in comparison to Beth Ditto of Gossip, who kicked the show off with an a capella performance, and returned to the catwalk for the finale.
