Designer Bio…

Karl Lagerfeld is able to recap any costume style in European history at the drop of a hat. Always wanting to be the mysterious one, Lagerfeld vehemently denies that anyone really knows his true date of birth in Germany though his official registration records say 1933. His personal mysticism translates to an understated chic, elegance, and just plain ‘class’ that not many designers pull off and despite the ill welcoming his first show received, his name has skyrocketed and is one of most well known name of fashion and I’m convinced will stay that way.

On International Women’s Day, Lagerfeld’s drama filled show goes full tilt with an¬†apocalyptic¬†feeling that his enhanced by the fire and brimstone stage. Dense fabrics with rough edges with some flashes of red or green makes survival a serious job on the runway.

“It was a complete volte-face from his couture show which was so young and girlish and full of sweet Josephine dresses and little silk pumps. This was very hard and androgynous – the quilted all-in-one was a highlight!” – Alexandra Shulman
