Carine Roitfeld leaves French Vogue

Carine Roitfeld has resigned as editor of French Vogue.

The international style icon has been Editor-in-Chief of the French edition of the fashion bible since 2001, and the news of her decision to resign has come as a huge shock to the industry.

It has been reported she will leave the publication at the end of January next year, news which will upset many fashion insiders who consider her to have had a remarkable impact on the magazine.

“It is impossible to overstate Carine’s powerful contribution to Vogue and to the fields of fashion and magazine publishing. Under her direction, Vogue Paris received record levels of circulation and advertising and editorial success,” Jonathan Newhouse, chief executive officer of Condé Nast International told

“Vogue Paris has established itself as one of the most iconic magazines in the world, with huge influence in the field of fashion and photography.”

It has been reported Carine will concentrate on personal projects. Her replacement will be revealed in the next few weeks.

“Carine herself has become widely known as a beacon of style, fulfilling the role with charm and graciousness. She has become a giant in her profession,” added Jonathan.”Carine will be deeply missed. I am extremely grateful to her for what she has achieved.”
