As another week comes to a close, eye-catching trends were seen all over the world. It wasn’t just one trend that was omnipresent throughout these past seven days, but rather a multitude of daring combinations that stood out amongst the crowd. Some popular looks include bold color or reflective metallics, while other ensembles focus on the optimization of prints, such as abstract, floral, or animal alike. The top ten most inspiring looks of the past week incorporated different interpretations of many of the season’s strongest ideas.
Victoria Beckham
Former Spice Girl, Victoria Beckham, will never been seen anywhere without a stylish outfit and model-like pout. As she arrived at the Beijing International Airport this past Saturday, she certainly “spiced-up” baggage claim with a sleeveless yellow jacket form her 2013-2014 collection, a white shirt and blue trousers. The brightness of the kimono style jacket was off-set by the neutralness of the white top and cream heels, making the outfit look amazing and cohesive.
Maggie Gyllenhaal
As a veteraned actress and political activist, Maggie Gyllenhaal is not only talented and outspoken – but also stylish. Although “White House Down” was filmed in Montreal, the premiere launched in Washington this past Friday. Alongside co-stars Channing Tatum and Jamie Fox, the oldest Gyllenhaal looked stunning in an ironically all-black dress from the Alexander McQueen autumn/winter 2013-14 collection. She paired the metallic- collar dress with classic Casadei pumps and a trendy snakeskin bag.
Miranda Kerr
As a successful Victoria’s Secret Angel and a contender in Forbes 2009 list of the world’s highest paid models, Miranda Kerr doesn’t need a red carpet to look flawless. The Australian-born beauty proved that this past week as she was spotted walking around the streets of New York City in Isabel Marant shorts with a denim shirt and Balmain suede bag. Even behind her trendy sunglasses and of-the-moment red lipstick, her signature dimples were still visible.
Alessandra Ambrosio
Like her co-angel, Miranda Kerr, Alessandra Ambrosio’s style from the past week is also worth recognizing. At the Monsters University Premiere in LA on June 17th, Ambrosio was photographed wearing a white Robert Rodriguez maxi dress. The Brazilian model used the classic summer color to accentuate her sun-tanned skin. Sticking with the summer-themed ensemble, she paired her flawlessly fitting dress with Jennifer Meyer jewelry and lemon-yellow clutch.
Natalie Portman
As if Natalie Portman hasn’t already reached perfection in her day to day ensembles, the Black Swan star looks absolutely stunning at Benjamin Millepied’s Los Angeles Dance Project Benefit Gala hosted this past Thursday. Dressed in Dior from head-to-toe, Portman’s plunge-neck, fire engine red dress was the envy of many as well as the talk of the night. She offset the bright color of the dress by wearing a black Dior clutch and neutral Dior peep-toe heels.
Alexa Chung
Keeping true to her understated style, fashion icon Alexa Chung showed support for her friend Henry Holland this past Wednesday by wearing a House of Holland printed skirt. She paired this patterned skirt with a plain button down common to those we see so often in Chung’s wardrobe. Another classic Chung staple has to be the leather biker jacket which is paired with the otherwise professional-looking ensemble. Chung accessorized with a Mulberry bag and Jimmy Choo heels to tie the look together.
Maria Sharapova
Although Maria Sharapova’s true talent lies behind the racket, it is safe to say that this world-renowned tennis player is quite the style activist as well. Sharapova was glowing at the WTA Pre Wimbledon Party in London this past Thursday. Wearing a gold-belted Burberry dress, Sharapova’s waist wasn’t the only thing that was shining at the Kensington Roof Gardens.
Kate Moss
Everybody’s favorite English model, Kate Moss, played it safe – yet sexy – at Charlotte Tilbury’s Makeup House of Rock ‘N’ Kohl launch party in Selfridges, London on June 17th. Moss wore a classic LBD which she paired with a black Saint Laurent bag and black Saint Laurent jacket. She accessorized this seemingly unclimactic outfit with animal-printed Louboutin heels that would send even the least fashion-conscious woman on a trip.
Zoe Saldana
The always fierce Zoe Saldana may not have the best luck when it comes to relationships, but the only boy she needs is Alexander McQueen. Saldana was a sight for sore eyes at the Palmarina Bodrum opening night in Turkey this past Saturday, dressed in McQueen from head-to-goldpoint-toe. The classic black backdrop of the floral printed dress makes the design even more attention-grabbing while the thick black belt accentuates Saldana’s womanly shape.
Ruth Wilson
English actress, Ruth Wilson, turned heads at The Lone Ranger premiere in Los Angeles this past Saturday thanks to her poise, confidence and Alexander McQueen pre-autumn/winter 2013-14 dress. The color combination feels somewhat nautical, but the low-plunged ruffled neck line takes away from the playfulness and adds to the elegance that Wilson so perfectly exudes.
