The Met Gala 2012

Silver Sirens

Gwyneth Paltrow, Sofia Vergara, Camille Belle

With a body like this is it really any surprise that Gwyneth Paltrow feels the need to show it off? Although her exposed Prada mini has had mixed reviews, we’d like to congratulate Gwynnie on her daring (flashing side boobs, back and legs all at once!) plus there’s no doubt that the sleek silver number highlights her flawless skin.  Sofia Vergara ticks all of our boxes in this beaded bandeau Marchesa super-chic creation, the slight fish tail, the sweeping peplum and the cut out neckline. Love! And then we come to Camille Belle who looked as beautiful as ever in low-cut metallic 20s Ralph Lauren.

Metallic Moves

Lana Del Ray, Jessica Alba, Rihanna

An undeniably huge trend for Spring/ Summer, last night many of the Met Gala stars shimmered and shined in liquid metal gowns. Although we can’t quite get our heads around the gothic black cape, we simply adore Lana Del Rey in this floor-length pewter Joseph Altuzarra gown. Jessica Alba looked like a grecian goddess in a gold one-shouldered Michael Kors dress and Rihanna, looking surprisingly demure in a skin tight (as standard) black reptile-skin textured Tom Ford dress complete with dramatic plunging back. (Well, she wouldn’t be Rihanna without showing some skin, would she?!)

Bright Stars

Emma Roberts, Kristen Wiig, Solange Knowles

Dressed in a tangerine toned strapless Escada dress, Emma Roberts proved that even the most hard-to-wear shades can look divine and delicious when simply styled with a thin black waist belt and understated accessories.  Kristen Wiig wowed with both her newly dyed brunette locks, and this nearly-neon orange Stella McCartney lace prom dress, whilst Solange Knowles rocked a bright yellow Rachel Roy number (take note January Jones, this is how to wear yellow!)

Fashion Fail

January Jones, Eva Mendes, Chloe Sevigny

This year’s fashion fails are something of a surprise. The gorgeous January Jones showed exactly how not to wear this seasons brights in a canary yellow Atelier Versace dress, Eva Mendes looked downright frumpy in a blood-orange embellished Prada dress that totally swamped her teeny tiny frame and the usually uber-stylish Chloe Sevigny wearing a barely-there Miu Miu mini that left us wondering whether she may have been better off consulting a mirror rather than wearing one!
