The Venice Film Festival 2012 Fashion

A flurry of renowned silver-screen celebs by the way of Naomi Watts, Kate Hudson and Laetitia Casta poured into Venice yesterday as the city celebrated the start of its 69th Film Festival, but it was the arrival of starry-eyed newcomer Kasia Smutniak, who turned heads.

Kasia Smutniak at the Venice Film Festival 2012

The Polish model and actress, known for her role in From Paris With Love, was announced as the host of the international festival’s opening and closing ceremonies at a pre-festival photocall, dressed in a navy off-the-shoulder full-skirted dress. The wool Jil Sander creation accentuated the rising star’s enviable figure, although the diamond panel was somewhat thrown off by the Kasia mismatching skin tone.

Posing by the harbour, Kasia plumped for this floaty floral sheer chiffon number by Valentino complete with cutesy bow waist belt and white collar and cuffs.

By night, the starlet took a smouldering turn, dressed in an embellished and embroidered black Valentino gown for dinner. Beautifully elegant, backless and sleeveless. Another evening, another smouldering outfit. This time, the red skin-tight maxi dress comes courtesy of Armani Prive and boasts a daring open back.

All in all, we foresee a style crush (and movie star) in the making.

Hollywood royalty, Kate Hudson and Naomi Watts arrived at The Reluctant Fundamentalist premiere all shimmering, chiffon and nude in intricate column creations by Atelier Versace (Kate) and Marchesa.

Laetitia Casta at the Venice Film Festival 2012

We’ve previously expressed our girl-crushing adoration for beauty Laetitia Casta but so far at the Venice Film Festival her sartorial choices have been somewhat hit and miss.

The brand of choice was Dolce & Gabbana for both the puff sleeved, floral dress and sheer, lace number. Both totally suited to her luscious curves and yet somehow both left us wanting just that little bit more. Whilst obviously risque, the sheer gown felt a little . .  expected and the floral dress a little dull. . . although it has to be said, we love the hit of cobalt blue on her platformed pumps.

By day, Laetitia wore a modest but elegant cream embroidered by Valentino,  accessorised with butterfly shades and some rather fabulous white pointed stilettos (note, only an Italian bombshell can carry these off). For evening the actress dressed in a beautiful black organza Lanvin piece. Paired with embellished-tipped stilettos, minimal accessories and a laid-back beauty look, this is our favourite of Casta’s looks so far.
