Topshop SS14 Show Space

Whilst Somerset House remains the focal point for London Fashion Week activities, Topshop’s show space runs a close second in providing the most amazing and breathtaking of venues to showcase design talent – such as the no-longer-in-use Kings Cross terminal for AW13. And this year proves to be equally as amazing, as Swedish architect Pernilla Ohrestedt has been commissioned to design a bespoke catwalk in Regent’s Park.

With a view to bringing the outdoors in, the catwalk will take the form of a botanical backdrop, with a secret garden, grass catwalk (although don’t worry too much about sinking stilettos as the specially grown grass will provide a more supportive surface for fashion-forward footwear), and Douglas fir tree.

The architect explained, “My design for Topshop Showspace SS14 is inspired by minimal ways of creating paths through nature and parks, be it trampled desire lines in Regent’s Park or the simplicity of constructions that take you across boggy marshes in northern Sweden.”

Keep an eye on the Topshop live show cam where the space will launch on Sunday 15th September with the Topshop Unique SS13 show and will be the venue for Meadham Kirchhoff, Marios Schwab and Fashion East – amongst others.
