Victoria Beckham Designs Glasses Line

Oh how we’d love to be Victoria Beckham. Nothing to wear? Design your own fashion line! Bored of your Birkin? Launch a range of accessories! Can’t find the perfect pair of glasses? What matter! I’ll just create my own!
And that’s exactly what VB has gone and done. In the latest launch from her label, Victoria, who is near-sighted and has been troubled by the lack of perfect prescription frames, has designed a line of her own lenses.
The designer told WWD, “I do need to wear glasses — [but] I haven’t found glasses that suit me or that I particularly like. I’ve always been quite self-conscious [about this], so that’s why I’ve decided to do them myself.”
The venture is unlikely to be a huge departure for the former Spice Girl, who already has a sunglasses range, that was launched two years ago selling at both Bergdorf Goodman and Naiman Marcus in the USA and Harrods over here in London. However, for this range, VB has partnered with optical brand Cutler & Gross on the six-strong collection set to debut in Paris on October 4th.
In a palette that seems rather adventurous for the generally monochromatic Beckham, each of the six styles will be available in three colourways, ranging from black and tortoise, to forest green, topaz and even yellow! The lens frames, handcrafted in Italy will be made with a combination of metal and acetate, with each air adorned with a diamond faceted “V”.
And, for once, this isn’t just for the ladies, as the silhouettes range from the delicate and feminine to a more angular, acetate shape and bold unisex frames, such as the Heavy Square, that both Victoria and David wear!
“I will be wearing my glasses now, and it will be nice to see where I will be going for once,” Beckham said.
Retailing at around £300 the VB frames are expected in the shops come early 2013 so keep your eyes peeled.
