Victoria Beckham on Glamour's September Cover

Asked what her dream job would be, if she weren’t already a fashion designer, and Victoria Beckham, whose one time answer would have been ballet dancer, told Glamour Magazine, that she’d like to be a fashion editor. And what VB wants, it seems VB most often gets, as she turns her hand to guest editing the September issue of Glamour.

We’ll be popping out to purchase as soon as the issue hits newsstands, mainly because whilst VB clearly knows how to design clothes, we’d love to see how she styles the Fashion issue, particularly the non-designer pieces.

Glamour editor-in-chief Cindi Leive said that Beckham was a good choice for an issue devoted to fashion. We say it’s inspired!

And it seems that we’re not the only ones, because loyal Glamour readers have already shown their love for the ex-Spice Girl, as her last cover for Glamour, back in March 2010, shot up 16% in single-copy sales over the March issue in the previous year.

We’re not quite sure where she found the time what with her seemingly ever-expanding brood of Beckhams, and that rather delicious husband of hers, plus a number of fashion lines, that Spice Girls appearance and however many other social events she has to attend, but Posh  worked with the title for five months on a variety of features, including a runway-ready hairstyles piece with actress Lily Collins, a fashion story with Brit boy band The Wanted and a beauty section devoted to bold eye make up looks.

Leive has said that Beckham came to the table bristling with ideas and took the task seriously, contributing to layout decisions, casting and even making it in time for early morning conference calls.

Describing herself as something of a control freak during the process – and we imagine in most of the things she turns her hand to, Beckham says, “I wanted to put my stamp on the magazine. They were really open to my ideas, like I wanted to show Lily with not a lot of retouching. I have a very strong vision of what I like, and it’s cool and a little more edgy.”

For the rather gorgeous and playful cover image, Beckham was shot wearing a tiara, and very little else, whilst blowing bubbles from a bathtub. The photo is part of a new strategy of cover images for Glamour, with a focus on creating a story rather than simply an image. “We’re showing a sense of fun and a sense of humor,” said Leive, who has recently included had Amanda Seyfried posing with a bright yellow phone on the March cover and a topless Lauren Conrad.
