I was at a shoot in Los Angeles. Nicole Scherzinger was in the tiniest and sparkliest mini dress lounging louchely in a vintage car. The jewellery for the shoot was in one giant sparkle mound. Everything was glittering.
Then amidst the piles I spotted, around the stylist’s neck, the most delicate of talisman, a long necklace dripping with the Hand of Fatima in silver with twinkling cubic zirconium.
She told me it was from WishList London and I immediately looked them up and ordered. They offer a small but beautifully crafted and reasonably priced delicate and elegant range of necklaces, bracelets, rings.
Most of their pieces feature a good luck charm or spiritual force for good. One necklace is decked in peace signs. The Hand of Fatima is the ancient symbol for divine protection and freedom. It is said to be the hand of light directing humanity towards brightness and peace.
The company was started a couple of years ago and really tapped into the zeitgeist. Times are tough, we are all looking for luck and love and protection.
Other pieces include the evil eye symbol for protection, and every piece has a tiny red bamboo bead – the WishList signature – making the pieces instantly recognisable. The Red Sea bamboo bead was regarded as the seventh treasure in Buddhist scriptures and is said to ward off evil spirits.
The new WishList collection embraces these spiritual symbols and always the red bead, but also beautiful butterflies and crystal necklaces with Cubic Zirconium intricate centrepieces.
The very long necklaces can be worn as a single or double strand making them very easy and dependable. They are all made from sterling silver and sometimes dipped in gold or rose gold.
