A Taste of London – Literally

Damian Allsop had us at “Chocolate”. Or at least he will, with a chocolate-themed London-centric journey to celebrate the Olympic host cities’ many cultures.
The first, in association with The Wyndham Grand in London’s Chelsea Harbour, is an EAT LONDON Afternoon Tea. Featuring a selection of exclusive chocolate recipes by Damian Allsop that are evocative of some of London’s most iconic areas, you’ll be treated to a taste of South Kensington’s French hub as you dip into the Petit Pot au Chocolat, the Brick Lane Mango Lassie Chocolate as inspired by Indian influences in the East of the city and in honour of China Town, delightful lemongrass brownies. Served in the glass fronted hotel lounge, which overlooks Chelsea Harbour, what better way to get a rather literal taste of London town?
If you’d rather get a taster of London on-the-go, Allsop has created a range of delectable chocolate bars that also hark to the taste of London. The Eaton Square bar offers a taster of Old England, Edgeware Road point to the city’s Arabic influences and Soho Square for it’s prevalent Italian cafe culture.
If you’ve ever wondered how Damian Allsop makes his delicious and rather distinct chocolate – or are keen to turn your own hand to chocolate making – book into the masterclass that Damian is hosting at the Wyndham Grand Hotel on the 9th June. During the two hour demonstration you will learn how his ganache is created with spring water, rather than cream or butter, as well as learning tips and tricks on his specialist approach to chocolate making, and how to recreate the recipes at home.
The EAT London Afternoon Tea at The Wyndham Grand Hotel, runs from 1st – 30th June and costs £28 pp.
The Chocolate Masterclass at The Wyndham Grand Hotel runs on 9th June, from 11 am to 1 pm and costs £40 pp.
The EAT London Chocolate Bars are available at Selfridges, The Mount Street Deli and The Wyndham Hotel and online at www.damianallsop.com and cost £2.50
