Sweet coconut pancakes

Sweet coconut pancakes

by John Gregory Smith

The newly opened Spice Market, at the W hotel in Leicester Square, has just launched two new Asian dishes to join the extensive breakfast menu. Cornish crab scrambled eggs and sweet coconut pancakes join the delicious breakfast menu, which includes all manor of smoothies, granolas, sausages and pastries, all served up with fresh coffee and wonderful juices. The savory scrambled eggs were packed full of delicious sweet crab and topped with crunchy roasted sesame seeds, chillies and lime (£12.50). The sweet coconut pancakes were served with a maple-lavender Syrup and pomelo fruit (£11), which is like a sweet tasting, giant grapefruit.

I love this restaurant, it’s very cool and looks like an up to date version of the tired Raffles Hotel in Singapore; twenty first century-colonial grandeur. It’s an unusual place for breakfast, but a perfect one none the less.

The new South East Asian-inspired breakfast dishes are available from the a la carte breakfast menu Monday – Friday, 7:00 am – 11:00 am and Saturday – Sunday 8:00 am – 11:30 am.
