Our food contributor, John, has set out to find the best places to enjoy coffee in London and we’re craving coffee just thinking about his latest recommendation!

Plus, remember to get tweeting using the hashtag, #coffeemonday, and John (@mightyspice) might have more recommendations for you in your area…

My wonderful friend Phill is my dentist and over the last few months he has kindly straightened my teeth and made them so white they look like a celestial being is living in my mouth. All dentists love coffee breath, so, luckily for Phill, I made regular trips to Gail’s, on Northcote Road, opposite the practice.

The upmarket café, which has branches in all the yummiest mummiest parts of London, does a cracking coffee and bakes lovely fresh breads, cakes and pastries. They use Union Coffee, which is specially selected, Fairtrade Arabica coffee, from small estate coffee farms and smallholder coffee co-operatives worldwide. The resulting coffee is rich and smooth and I have never had a bad one!

I am also a real fan of their chicken, chorizo and chickpea salad…
