We are all familiar with that classic scene in Grease, Sandy sitting engrossed in the film playing at the drive in, Danny lounging suavely against her. A badly timed grope and a flurry of popcorn later, and poor Danny is stranded, alone, and singing despondently on the swings. It made us long for our very own drive in experience, complete with a ‘hopelessly devoted’ beau and Pink Ladies jacket of pride. But alas, the whole shebang remained native to the US. Until now.

Rooftop Film Club has launched The Drive In Film Club that gives us the chance to experience a classic American style drive in cinema. Every Friday, Saturday and Sunday throughout October the Drive In Film Club will play hose to movie classics, kicking off with Ryan Gosling’s Drive on 4th October – one for the girls and the guys, perfect!

Other titles on the roster include Django Unchained, The Notebook and cult classic Anchorman. Sunday screenings are reserved for family outings with showings of Toy Story, Shrek, Grease (they couldn’t miss it out) and Hocus Pocus especially for Halloween.

The cost is £22 per car, no matter how many you manage to cram inside (though do keep it legal!), and food available on sire includes Calafornian style street food from Route 66 and classic cinema favourites that are delivered straight to your car by the Drive In Film Club roller skating staff before you settle in for your viewing time.
