Just to reconfirm that EC2 is slowly but surely becoming the place to be in London town, and not just for its food and drink offerings (although we cannot wait for Bodega Negra’s new restaurant offering Casa Negra to open) British homewares brand House of Hackney is this week opening its flagship store in the middle of Shoreditch.

Describing itself as ‘Colefax and Fowler on acid’ there is nothing Ikea-stark or Scandi-minimalist about House of Hackney’s irreverent prints, playful imagery and bold, bright wallpapers, bed linens and furnishings. And the new East London store will add new sleepwear, accessories, fashion and floral lines to its current offerings.

With Architects MRA , of Hermes, Marc Jacobs and Agent Provocateur fame together with artsy florists Wild at Heart and window designer Andy Hillman at the helm, this is traditional British quality homeware paired with hipster styling.

House of Hackney‘s flagship opens at 131 Shoreditch High Street on 7th June 2013
