Lifestyle, Fashion & Life In-Between……

By Colander Boy

I am not sure if it is just me but lately I am really drawn to the homeware section of every department store in the city.

The display of spoons, plates, glasses etc gets me all dizzy with excitement. It’s like the universe is sending me a message that it is high time I settled down with Mr. Perfect, in our mansion where the massive kitchen will play a significant feature. So obviously I am taking this a step further and pre-buying the silverware, linen napkins, anodized aluminium sauté pans, Jamie Oliver’s stew pot, and my personal favourite, Le Creuset cookware range and textiles in satin black and orange.

Needless to say I cannot cook but I am sure I will learn once I bag Mr. Perfect!

Now coming to the science bit of my column. Why Colander Boy….Colander comes from the Latin colum meaning sieve.

I personally like looking and collecting any kitchen utensils that has fine holes in it and is chrome, chunky that I think surely serves the purpose of getting rid of unwanted dirt from everyday eating items, but from the column point of view, I intend to get rid of the generic gloss and write about relevant topics without gimmicks or pitches but just pure, honest reviews and thoughts…dirt free!!

Chanel’s Precision Sublimage Essential Regenerating Cream

Chanel’s Precision Sublimage Essential Regenerating Cream

Bag it for your Man…

The Dermalogica range is definitely the clever investment for the future of any skin. The Age Smart Super Rich Repair cream is a must have for any man on the go. It serves the correct job of hydrating dry/damaged skin and can be used on its own, if one does not like to clutter the bathroom shelves with too many products.

If price isn’t a factor, Chanel’s Precision Sublimage Essential Regenerating Cream is another great investment. I think the name is self explanatory.

Tip: One can always share this product. Obviously you will have to convince your partner that sharing Chanel alone is reason enough to move in together. But the tip is to not dip the fingers but use a small amount using a cotton bud. Plus this cream has to be massaged in the face for exactly 4 minutes to get effective results, so just think how much love will flow post the skin routine!

One of my current favourite designers is Philipp Patrick Plein. The german designer’s laughing skull design, has become his signature in his high quality, innovative, pure luxurious designs.

Sadly his pieces are not sold in any stores in the UK, it’s via mail order only but a few of his in-expensive signatures are definitely worth bagging for spring/13.

The “Terror Teddy & Bunny” V neck T-shirts are an essential for this spring, pairing it with his loose fit “Sinatra” sapphire blue denim trousers that are embellished with a printed seam.

The designer’s treat of gorgeous fabrics, jewels, chains and studs form a feel of romantic playfulness with fashion.

"Alistair" 2 Tone Brogue

“Alistair” 2 Tone Brogue

I do not like using the word must-have as fashion is constantly changing. But few pieces come out every season that is worth investing in. The choices are limitless from a brand point of view. For S/S13, starting from Louis Vuitton to Top Man, it’s all about the two tone brogues for men in leather, canvas etc. Invest in a stylish pair and work the brogues around the already existing essential capsule wardrobe.

Reading of the Week

Yes Colander Boy is not just beauty & brawn….he has a brain too. To the point that I go through atleast one book of fiction a week alongside Evening Standard, Daily Telegraph, Metro and even The Sun!

Every little helps….ahh love that Tesco jingle!

The Hundred- Year Old Man Who Climbed Out of the Window and Disappeared by Jonas Jonasson

Fast-moving, clever, crazy & an incredible funny read.

Me Before You by Jojo Moyes

If you have been living under a rock, then you have no idea about Me Before You.

It’s compelling, heartbreaking and a thought-provoking, entertaining read.

Wedding Night by Sophie Kinsella

Ok this is a pre-order about to be dropped on the 25th of April. Kinsella is the shopaholic series mega writer; needless to say the fiction is eagerly-awaited by a novelist who keeps its funny, entertaining and is a total escapist reader’s delight.

The Fault in Our Stars by John Green

A novel of life and death and the characters caught in between. It is literally one of those books that lived up to the press hype.

 See you next time!
