If you too have been itching to own one of Mary Katrantzou’s illusory trompe l’oeil pieces or optical digital-print designs, but sadly can’t stretch to the £600-plus price tags, then you should probably take a peek at the fashion designer’s exciting new collaboration with s[edition].

Mary Katrantzou Pound

Pound is the first piece of digital artwork that the Greek designer has created, and there are just 1000 of them available.

Working in the same way as she does when creating her instantly recognisable textiles; Katrantzou has picked an unwearable object, in this case a pound note, and made it a central theme within her design.

Pound is a collage of many fragments of English pounds notes, all fused into a whole that is then animated in a way that imitates the symmetry of a kaleidoscope.

The Mary Katrantzou Pound animation is currently priced at £16 (although there are limited numbers available at this price) with all proceeds benefitting the ICA.
