It’s becoming increasingly hard to keep on top of all of the new openings in East London. It’s crazy and occasionally things slip through the net. Pitfield, is one of those slippery fish, but recently, finally, I had lunch there. It’s a café, shop and gallery just off Old Street. I had never even seen it before, despite wandering past most days but I’m so glad that I did, as it was fantastic – great food, cool vibes and lots of aspirational goodies for sale.
Pitfield is the combination of styles from interior designer Shaun Clarkson and textile designer Paul Brewster. They serve awesome freshly-made deli food and great coffee, alongside a constantly rotating exhibition of local London designers, craftspeople and artists sitting with well established international brands, design classics, re-invented items, vintage pieces and Clarkson’s and Brewster’s own designs.
