Everyone likes good food. Everyone likes comedy. So Shuttlecock Inc.’s Rumble: Part Deux (effectively their sequel to their sell-out pop-up Rumble At The Deli) was always going to be a success really wasn’t it?

The Rumble nights pit two caricatured fictional chefs against each other in the menu stakes. Guests turn up, revel in the comedic turns of the waiters and chefs surrounding them, taste the food, and vote for their favourite starter, main and dessert, without knowing who cooked them up. The winner bows and smiles to rapturous applause, whilst the defeated food-meister shuffles over to the kitchen to make a start on the washing up.

Arnaud Hérouville-Saint-Clair-Escoffier is Shuttlecock’s latest creation, and host of each evening. His backstory is that he is the great-grandson of renowned culinary wizard Auguste, as well as being the chef and owner of Paris’ La Constellation, appropriately named to reflect its string of sought after Michelin stars.

Now there is some seriousness to each event. Each chef involved is well-known within the industry for their talent, the food, unlike everything else about the occasion, is not to be scoffed at. The competition is fierce, the chef’s take the task incredibly seriously, which means the food is exquisite. Competitors this season include Tom Stracker of The Walnut Tree, The Ledbury, The Dorchester Grill and Heston’s Dinner, Shuttlecock’s own Ollie Templeton of Moro and champion of Rumble At The Deli, Max Pasetti, of Bocca di Lupo and Trullo.

We were lucky enough to pop along to the launch event that kicked this wonderful series of events off this week. Here are some of the culinary delights we sampled, as well as the chefs themselves.
