Yes everyone it was national KISSING day on Wednesday (6.7.11) and to celebrate this fabulous pastime I’ve come up with the perfect cakes! These great vanilla cupcake lip smackers will give people another reason to reach over and give you a wonderful KISS!

Makes 8 cupcakes

140g plain flour

Preparation:
Pre-heat your oven to gas mark3/160˚C and put your cases into your muffin tray.

In a mixing bowl, place all of the dry ingredients and stir together. Then combine the milk, egg and vanilla.
Add the butter to the dry and mix in. Now add the liquids and beat in until all is combined.

Fill each case 2/3 full and bake for 25-30 minutes or until cooked.

Ingredients: The buttercream and lip smackers
250g icing sugar
80g butter at room temperature
25g milk
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
100g red lips
100g red hearts

Spread on the buttercream

Spread on the buttercream

Preparation:

Beat the butter for 2 minutes and then add heaped tablespoons of icing sugar until it is all combined.

Add the milk and vanilla and keep beating for 5 minutes.

Set aside until ready to decorate

Take a small palette knife or an ordinary table knife will do and spread some of the buttercream onto the tops of each cake. I then sprinkled mine with pink sugar and then placed the sweets on top!

100g of each sweet is a little too much but hey, they’re not going to go to waste!
