Artesian at The Langham

Lychee Martini

The decor at the Artesian Bar at The Langham Hotel, an eclectic  mix of art deco, middle eastern and oriental influences is as diverse as the clientele. Business-men rub shoulders with well-dressed well-coiffed ladies, a free-flow of hotel guests and London’s young and uber-cool crowd. Whilst I’m not entirely sure where we sat within the mix, this isn’t a bar that you visit for the clientele, but rather the drinks.

With a cocktail menu that, last year, won the prestigious World’s Best Cocktail Menu prize at the Spirited Awards Tales of the Cocktail, think the Oscar’s of the alcohol world, to say that the we were overwhelmed with the choice was an understatement.  Despite the renowned rum-selection, we plumped for the cocktail menu and martinis. The lychee and apple martinis were combined with fresh fruits and garnished with rose petals, blooms and lovingly-carved apple designs.

We also dabbled in some dim sum from the equally eclectic food menu which boasted a selection of sharing platters, oriental fusion and Artesian tiffin.

Although on the pricey side, even for London’s standards, the cocktails at the Artesian are well worth the price tag and the bar should definitely be on your radar for special occasions and glamorous girls’ nights out.
