Casey Affleck

Casey Affleck, unlike his brother Ben, isn’t the type of actor you’ll probably ever cross paths with. Even though he made my head turn at a Soho House party in LA looking pretty handsome, he’s not a wild party animal. He won’t be in the front row at the next Oscars (though he’s had enough nominations for them), and he and his wife are far from “Brangelina” status. A former Physics major and dedicated vegan foodie who loves filming his own movies almost as much as he loves acting in them, Casey simply isn’t your typical starlet. One thing is for sure: this Hollywood star has talent, and enough of it to go around.

Born in the small town of Falmouth, Massachusetts, Casey had nothing other than Ben’s acting genes to rely on. His mother is a school district employee, his father a social worker. Affleck lived a relatively normal life until he attended George Washington University, later transferring to Columbia University in New York, where he majored in physics and astronomy. After graduating, Casey almost immediately landed the role of a sociopathic teen in the 1995 comedy To Die For, alongside buddy Joaquin Phoenix and bombshell Nicole Kidman. His next film, Race the Sun, was an utter failure, so he decided to follow brother Ben’s footsteps, appearing alongside him in Chasing Amy and Goodwill Hunting for two successive years. Talk about family bonding! Goodwill Hunting was a box-office success, and marked the beginning of a string of acting gigs for both Afflecks. (Each won awards for Best Original Screenplay.) After filming Desert Blue with rising star Kate Hudson, Casey took time away from the big screen before starring in Drowning Mona and Soul Survivor. He later admitted to being ashamed of both films, and for good reason. Luckily, Casey gained leverage with the Ocean’s Eleven series and an all-star cast: George Clooney, Brad Pitt, and Julia Roberts.

After firmly rooting himself in the acting scene, Casey did an about face and turned to screenwriting, collaborating with Matt Damon on the film Gerry (2002). Five years later, he was ready to be back on camera. The Assassination of Jesse James (2007) was wildly successful; Affleck received a nod to the Golden Globes for Best Supporting Actor, an SAG nomination for Outstanding Performance, and came just shy of an Oscar. A year later, Ben filmed Casey in Gone Baby Gone, which proved a bigger success than either brother anticipated. Looks like each Affleck has a bit of unrequited filmographer in them! And each has a passion for the same type of woman; Liv Tyler has had on (and off) screen romances with both brothers. After six years of playing the field, Casey settled down with Joaquin Phoenix’s sister, Summer. The couple has two children, Indiana and Atticus, with another baby on the way.

So what is this rugged actor’s next endeavor? Casey can be seen in the much buzzed about Sundance film festival selection The Killer Inside Me costarring Kate Hudson and Jessica Alba. And while brother-in-law Joaquin Phoenix embarks on a music breakthrough, Affleck is behind the scenes with a camera every step of the way, compiling Phoenix’s successes and screw-ups into a documentary called “Resurrecting Joaquin from Ashes”. Thrill us, Casey. It’s about time!

Cheryl Cole

No you haven’t misread, it seems Cheryl Cole’s sanity has taken a momentary lapse, she is now saying she may still give her estranged husband Ashley Cole another chance. Cheryl is said to be “confused” over whether she should let the England soccer player explain his alleged infidelities with a number of other women and try one last time to save their troubled relationship.

A source said: “He’s pleaded to meet Cheryl in the next three or four days for talks. He wants to state his case, and explain why he deserves another chance.”

Another source added: “Cheryl is in two minds. Her heart says ‘yes’ but her head says ‘no’. She is so confused.”

I think I speak for everyone what I say Cheryl, don’t do it!

Jennifer Lopez

Jennifer Lopez has hit back against claims that her pop career has been left in ruins after she was dropped from Sony. Her seventh album Love was due for release this year, but after Jennifer “parted company” with the music giant the future of her album looked uncertain. Jennifer decided to address the issues with the following statement,

“I am making this statement to put an end to any confusion in regards to my next album, titled Love. I have belonged to the Sony family since the beginning of my career as a singer and together we’ve had great success. I have fulfilled my contractual responsibilities with Sony/Epic up to this point, and we have both reached friendly terms about my departure from the label. I’m also happy to say that we’ve found a new home for my album Love? and that it is slated for release in the summer of 2010.”

Hmm could this be the end of J-Lo’s pop career? Will she have to fall back on her ‘acting career’?

Lady Gaga in Q Magazine

Despite often wearing next to nothing and often strolling around in nothing but a leotard, Lady Gaga considers herself to be ‘quite a lady’. Ironically Gaga goes on to pose topless (covering her modesty with her hands) in the recent issue of Q magazine revealing all about her image.

Posing in a pair of spiky black trousers and a whole load of chain necklaces Gaga said: “Well, I believe in certain institutions: cooking, serving dinner, taking care of my family. So I consider myself quite the lady.”

Earlier this year she was forced to cancel her gigs due to exhaustion and it seems the cracks are still showing, after the photoshoot and interview Gaga broke down in tears, while it was visible that she seemed to be cracking under the pressure. Time for a break Gaga?

Cheryl Cole

Cheryl Cole’s husband offered to go to sex rehab to save their marriage. Cheryl spent her first night back in the UK alone after ending her marriage to soccer player Ashley Cole, but that didn’t stop him trying to get back in her good books. Ashley, bombarded Cheryl, with a string of increasingly distressed voicemails, which she ignored. A source close to Ashley told The Sun newspaper: “Ashley was calling every ten minutes or so and leaving messages.

“Ashley suggested they could go for counselling and that he could try therapy. He admitted for the first time that he has a problem.”

It seems to be a case of too little too late. Cheryl made her feelings clear when she said to Ashley “You have lied, lied and lied. You disgust me. I’ll see you around.”

Cheryl Cole

Proving that Ashley Cole is the last thing on her mind, Cheryl Cole spent the night with a hot American dancer, or so her PR team want us to believe – we ain’t buying it one bit! They say Cheryl sought comfort from professional performer Derek Hough after texting her husband, soccer star Ashley Cole, to tell him their marriage was over and he should move out of their marital home.

Cheryl, 26, fled the UK for Los Angeles last week after lurid allegations of Ashley cheating on her with five other women emerged.  Derek arrived at the London hotel in West Hollywood to see Cheryl at around 7.30pm on Sunday – the day she texted Ashley – accompanied by his terrier dog, and left at around 4am, smiling – oh that’s a nice convenient time to ’sneak’ out.  An onlooker told The Sun newspaper: “He looked very pleased with himself.” Derek, 24, has enjoyed a string of lunch dates and openly flirted with Cheryl while they have been in Los Angeles. Again – sorry we are just not buying it – let the poor girl just grieve, I think the last thing she will be bothered about right now is going on a string of dates. We say shop!

Will we be seeing more of Derek on Cheryl’s arm?

Cheryl Cole & Ashley Cole

Cheryl Cole is expected to file for divorce from her husband Ashley Cole “within weeks”…it seems the singer has finally had enough. Friends of Cheryl claim the 26-year-old pop beauty will leave him after growing “exhausted” by allegations of his infidelity. One pal told the Daily Mail newspaper: “She loves Ashley, he is the love of her life, but there is only so much she will take.

“Cheryl is exhausted with it all. There was a point when she was going to ride it all out, but she has heard rumours of more women and cannot face it. They will split within weeks.”

This news comes shortly after a blonde office worker claimed she had slept with Ashley twice in 2008 after exchanging explicit pictures and text messages with the 29-year-old sportsman for weeks. Texts of a similar nature were also found on the phone of glamour model Sonia Wild.
