Kate Moss maybe hot property right now, with an ever popular collection for Topshop and a successful fragrance but perhaps there are some things Kate should keep to herself. Kate decided to let us in on the key to her success. She told WWD that there are plenty of mottos that she tries to keep in mind in order to maintain her level of success.

‘Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels.’ That’s one of them,’ she reveals. But before you get ready to boycott a Topshop near you, the model did then redeem herself by, adding: ‘You try and remember, but it never works.’

Kate also talked about the mentors and friends that she’s had throughout her career, and how they often opt for the tough love approach, telling her ‘Oh no, Kate, that’s not a good look.’
But Kate, now 35, says it hasn’t affected her outlook on life.‘It sounds really corny, but I think that if you’re beautiful inside, it shows on the outside for sure,’ she says. ‘You can be a pretty face, but if you’re not a nice person, it just doesn’t work.’
‘I’m not traditionally a beauty, but apparently people think I’m alright,’ she adds. ‘If you’re a nice person, it definitely helps.’

Isaac Mizrahi for QVC

Ok, so we’ve had designer and high street collaborations but designers and home shopping channels? Really? Apparently so, designer Isaac Mizrahi is set to host his own show on QVC called Isaac Mizrahi LIVE, which, is also the name of his new range that he will be selling.

The designer will showcase his new collection which ranges from handbags, to cheesecakes (yes really!) and even kettles, on the 4th of December. Not your conventional cheesy home shopping channel, Isaac Mizrahi LIVE intends to give viewers an insight into the wonderful wacky world of the designer himself, with a selling pitch to boot. What’s not to love here?

Apparently the Brooklyn born designer is involved in his products from start to finish and has made it clear he doesn’t want to be only known as Isaac Mizrahi the ‘fashion designer’. He told WWD, “I love my product. I believe in my product. If I do plates, if I do bedding, which I did, if I render cookies, I do it in the same way that I think about a couture dress.”

Tom Ford

Is Tom Ford set to design womenswear again? The designer hasn’t designed any womenswear since leaving Gucci in 2004. Rumours have been rife amongst fashion bloggers especially since Editor of French Vogue Carine Roitfeld was spotted wearing archive Tom Ford pieces.

If that wasn’t enough we hear the American designer’s company is seeking a $50 million investment, he said, ”Financing is extremely expensive right now, so if we find financing in the right situation we’ll be able to start a women’s collection soon. If we don’t, we may have to wait a while.” However if you’re hoping to snap up anything from the designer himself you’ll have a long wait ahead as Tom’s first collection won’t be unveiled until 2011! Tom said, “You know it will take me 18 months when I start, because I have to hire the team, find the factories, put everything together and then get the stores ready so there’s a place for these clothes .”

Giorgio Armani

Giorgio Armani has been nominated to become an Italian “senator for life“. The fashion designer was put forward for the prestigious role by Santo Versace who says it is a thoroughly deserved honour. He said: “There is nobody that deserves it more or who better represents our country. He has earnestness, creativity and excellence. Armani embodies the beauty of Italy, the country the way we would like to see it represented around the world, and where meritocracy is fully applied.”

Santo also revealed his sister Donatella – who is Versace’s creative director – is behind the nomination. He told WWD: “She said it was a brilliant idea, fantastic and that I should do everything I can to promote it.”There can be five “senators for life” at any one time in Italy, alongside the 315 elected senators who also serve in parliament. President Giorgio Napolitano has not yet appointed a senator for life during his tenure and there is currently one post vacant. Good luck Giorgio, we think he’d make the world a more fashionable place.

Karl Lagerfeld & Beth Ditto

Karl Lagerfeld has put his foot in his mouth once again with one of his latest mind boggling revelations. Get this, according to Karl, “Anyone who doesn’t prefer to look at skinny models is just a fat mummy.”

Yep you heard right. I mean I’ve heard Count Karl say some pretty outlandish things but this takes the biscuit. Karl was apparently responding to German magazine Brigitte’s announcement to use only “ordinary, realistic” models in the future. Karl went on to say the idea was absurd, and driven by overweight women who can’t face up to their weight issues. “These are fat mummies sitting with their bags of crisps in front of the television, saying that thin models are ugly,” Karl said in an interview with Focus magazine, adding “no one wants to see round women.”

Oh yeah Karl? Tell that to Beth Ditto, I thought the pair of you were buddies? It wasn’t so long ago that you were a bit weighty yourself…

At London Fashion Week designer Mark Fast caused quite a stir on the catwalk by using size 12 models in his spring/summer show, his stylist was so distraught she apparently walked out. Karl, a word of advice, why not take a leaf out of Mark’s book?

Pixie Geldof for USC

Girl about town Pixie Geldof has just been announced as the new face of USC as they re-launch their womenswear collection. The new range is all set to be an eclectic mix of funky, edgy pieces, so Pixie seems to be quite a good match for the new direction they are going for.

Pixie spoke of her role saying: “It was cool to work for USC where the clothes look good and are accessible.” David Douglas, Director of USC went on to say, “We are delighted to be working with someone whom we feel shares our passion for the range.” With Pixie on board we hear that they are hoping she will assist in getting the brand out there, especially their new collections Abandon and Miss Soviet.

Well, well we hear Sarah Jessica Parker is set to become the new face of Halston.  SPJ is in talks for a major endorsement deal with the American fashion house, following her previous contracts with Garnier and Gap, according to reports. US website E!Online claims, “Not that we need any proof of Sarah Jessica Parker’s status as a true fashion icon, but we’re hearing she’s in talks for a major endorsement deal. “A source reports that the ‘Sex and the City’ star may be the new face of revived American fashion house Halston.”

Jil Sander for UNIQLO

We’ve just had Christopher Kane for Topshop and now we’re eagerly anticipating the arrival of Jil Sander for UNIQLO. Fast becoming one of our favourite high street haunts UNIQLO merges affordable fashion with functionality not to mention an excellent denim range which we have raved about in the past. Now the high street giant is teaming up with German minimalist designer Jil Sander to create an exclusive collection for autumn/winter.

+J will be hitting stores on the 1st of October with a collection that will include jersey t-shirts, crisp white shirts, cashmere knitwear, wool outerwear and accessories. With 100 pieces for women and around 40 pieces for men, ranging from denim to formal wear, this collection encompasses the luxury of a designer collection at high street prices.
