Stars lined the stands for this year’s Super Bowl in Indiana, showing support for both the New England Patriots and the New York Giants.

Lenny Kravitz, Rosie O’Donnell and Jessica Simpson each tweeted pictures of themselves in the stands, while Seal, Adam Sandler, and David Arquette were among the other celebs caught cheering on their team of choice.

Maria Menounos, fashioned in a jersey emblazoned with Tom Brady’s number 12, cheered for the New England Patriots. Katy Perry appeared bipartisan in a unique red, white and blue outfit, mismatched shoes and blue hair.

Meanwhile in the locker room, supermodel Gisele Bundchen consoled husband and New England Patriots quarterback, Tom Brady, after his team lost the game 21-17.

In addition to the star-studded stands, this year’s Super Bowl featured a number of celeb performers, including Miranda Lambert and Kelly Clarkson. Madonna headlined the halftime show with guest artists Cee Lo Green, LMFAO, Nicki Minaj, and M.I.A., who caused a ruckus when she threw up her middle finger during her performance of “Give Me All Your Luvin’” with Madge.

Madonna finally said what we were all thinking in an interview with Newsweek today.

When asked about Lady Gaga’s single ‘Born This Way‘ Madge simply said “This is a wonderful way to redo my song [Express Yourself]“.

*cue pearl-clutching*

When prompted further, she drove the point home; ‘”I mean, I recognized the chord changes. I thought it was…interesting.“

I went to the premiere of Madonna’s directorial debut, the much hyped film W.E last night at the Odeon Kensington.

Of course we were all waiting to see what Madonna would wear on the red carpet, she had on a rather plain long black dress and a lace cardi after she’d taken off the original feathers. Ok it was a Gaultier dress and Van Cleef and Arpel diamonds but worn with red leather fingerless driving gloves and chunky red hooker shoes, this was not the superstar I expected to see. We thought maybe we were seeing Madonna the ‘director‘ so she was playing ‘more serious’ than the daring musical icon we’ve grown up with, but it was not her best look.

Interviewed by Edith Bowman on the red carpet she was happy to see the premiere finally happen after doing the rounds at all the film festivals. What does she think the secret is to looking young? “Love” of course. When Madonna spoke on the stage she spoke about this famous love story, “Their story is so rich, diverse & complex I never got bored researching it.”

The film tells this fascinating story more from the side of Wallis Simpson, played so beautifully by Andrea Riseborough, she absolutely transforms herself into this character. Her performance is worthy of awards, which she will probably not be nominated for as it’s ‘the Madonna film’ which is a shame. Abbie Cornish is the modern day Walle, a girl living a miserable life with a man who is the complete opposite of Edward VIII, he couldn’t care less. She visits the Sotheby’s auction house in NY to immerse herself amongst the Wallis collection that was going on sale in 2010 and obsess over her namesake’s life. If I was to criticise the film, it should be sharper and tighter, there was a lot of slo-mo and long drawn out sequences that often felt like a Madonna pop video, but that didn’t ruin the film for me at all.

Performances by Andrea Riseborough, James D’arcy, Abbie Cornish and the very hot Cuban, Oscar Isaac made the film enjoyable to watch, we couldn’t help thinking Madonna was drooling over Oscar with us in the dailies too!

Champagne, bowls of sausage and mash and mini lemon tarts were served at the after party at The Belvedere in Holland Park, where we toasted that this was a very good way to start the party season in 2012, thanks Madge, we still salute you!

This week is the UK Gala Première of W.E., Madonna’s new film, I am really looking forward to going to see this. There is something so captivating about this piece of history, the trailer looks fantastic and the costume design is  gorgeous. I love Andrea Riseborough, who is playing Wallis Simpson, so I will report back from the red carpet and the after party, hope Madge gets on the dance floor!

The singer-turned-director has faced criticism about her new movie, it is a two-tiered tale about the love life of late British monarch King Edward VIII and American divorcee Wallis Simpson, and a modern day New Yorker named Wally – and she hopes people will go to see it because she has put so much effort into it.

She said: “I come to the art of filmmaking with great humility; I respect it immensely as an art form and I know I have a lot to learn.

“It would be great if people liked my movie and it’s a success because that means I will be able to influence people. Let’s be honest, one doesn’t put all this hard work and effort into something, then say, ‘I don’t care if people see it or not, I don’t care if people like it or not.’ I hope it finds an audience.”

The 53-year-old star – who is currently dating 24-year-old dancer Brahim Zaibat – understands she is a source of controversy but hopes she can use it for good.

In an interview with Radio Times magazine, she said: “I’m well aware that everything I say and do is judged with a different measuring stick to most people. I’m under the magnifying glass in a way that other people aren’t. But I can also use that. I can influence people.”

And speaking of changes, so many celebrities decided to upgrade their looks last year with plastic surgery. Not always the best idea, but Hollywood does put the pressure on stars to look their best at all time.

One of the most famous plastic surgery stories in Hollywood comes from Heidi Montag who underwent countless surgeries to look like a Barbie doll. We all know how that ended up.

But some like Kris Jenner and Leona Lewis have managed to pull off their new look without looking like a completely different human being.

The British Film Institute’s London Film Festival is in full swing now and the stars were out in force over the weekend for the premieres for films such as Wuthering Heights, Trishna, Martha Marcy May Marlene and W.E.

Frieda Pinto hit the red carpet on Saturday (22.10.11) for the premiere of her new film, Trishna, and she looked lovely in Ralph Lauren jumpsuit and makeup by Kay Montano.

Madonna also hit the red carpet (albeit very briefly – which upset the fans A LOT) for the premiere of her directorial debut, W.E. She wore a simple L’Wren Scott LBD for the occasion and was joined by leading lady Andrea Riseborough, who looked lovely alongside her handsome co-star, James D’Arcy.

The relatively unknown cast of the newest adaptation of Wuthering Heights (directed by Andrea Arnold) hit London for the films LFF premiere. You might recognise Kaya Scodelario (who plays Catherine Earnshaw) from Skins but she looked great in a Burberry trench on the red carpet. We like the sound of this film and look forward to seeing how the completely unknown actor, James Howson from Leeds, fairs as Heathcliffe.

Elizabeth Olsen (sister of the famous twins) was also spotted doing the rounds for her acclaimed film, Martha Marcy May Marlene. She opted for a pale pink Chanel outfit with Christian Louboutin shoes. A bit overwhelming for us but she looked lovely nonetheless.

Toronto International Film Festival

The Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) is currently in full swing and the stars have already been out in force… and I should know, I was out there, watching the red carpet action from home is very sad…

George Clooney and new girlfriend Stacy Keibler were present to celebrate his premiere in the films; The Descendants and The Ides of March (which he directed). At the premiere, Kiebler, a former WWE wrestler towered above Clooney in a black tiered dress and ridiculous up-do. I actually bumped into George at the Soho House pop-up in Toronto on Saturday night and he was the only star in there with security, a bit over the top I think considering he was surrounded mostly by other celebrities. I’m thinking it could have been protection from his wrestling girlfriend, she was a lot bigger than him and I’m not convinced by this relationship myself…

Traveling couple, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, attended the premiere of Moneyball, which is said to have a lot Oscar buzz around it, as Pitt is said to have performed at his best, along with relative newcomer Jonah Hill. At the premiere, Pitt looked relaxed in a grey suit and checkered tie alongside Angelina who stunned in a black satin gown complete with a gold clutch.

Madonna arrived for her directorial debut premiere for W.E., the film that stars Abbie Cornish and James D’Arcy in a complicated love story about the marriage of King Edward VII and Wallis Simpson over 60 years. Although Madonna has not made a red carpet entrance yet, she has stated her disappointment in critics judging the movie wrongfully because of her name on the project.

New actress on the Hollywood scene (and sister of the famous twins), Elizabeth Olson made her debut at the festival for her role in Martha Marcy May Marlene. In the psychological thriller, Olsen plays Martha who is a confused woman trying to decode her past after she fled from a cult and its oppressive leaders. Olsen, who is the younger sister of fashion week darlings, Mary-Kate and Ashley, proved that fashion runs in the family, walking the carpet with a floral flock and dewy summer makeup and simple jewellery. She was staying at our hotel, The Fairmont Royal York, so we saw her in the lobby with entourage in this dress and she looked lovely.

One of the most anticipated films of the week is Machine Gun Preacher which was directed by Marc Foster – who also takes credit for Monster’s Ball and countless other flicks. The film stars Gerard Butler, Michele Monaghan, and Madeline Carroll and takes viewers on a journey of war in Sudan. This film has received plenty of Oscar buzz as well because of its biopic and touching storyline. Nonetheless, Michele Monaghan and Madeline donned gorgeous frocks on at the carpet premiere, and sparkly accessories that complimented the simple silhouettes and nude makeup. Saw Monaghan out a lot too, in sky high heels and cute dresses but a rather puffy face.. tell-tale signs of too many injectables.

Other celebs I spotted out there? Well I had a few drinks with the lovely Woody Harrelson, bumped into Jon Hamm and his lovely beau Jennifer Westfield, who I talked to at Soho House to congratulate her on her comedy, Friends With Kids, look out for this one, we all loved it! Ewan McGregor & Emily Blunt were partying on Saturday night at Soho House too, their film Salmon Fishing in the Yemen has a good buzz around it.

Gywneth Paltrow in Venice

Evan Rachel Wood, Gwyneth Paltrow, Keira Knightley, and Madonna were all looking fab at this year’s Venice Film Festival.

Ever since Evan Rachel Wood traded in her long blonde locks for a roughed-up pixie a few months ago she’s been sporting the androgenous look on red carpets everywhere. This year’s Venice Film Festival is no different as she’s been promoting her new film The Ides of March, so has been spotted on the promo trail all over town.

Gwyneth Paltrow’s look has been a bit sweeter; choosing fruity-coloured frocks while promoting her new movie Contagion. She was also spotted chilling out with newly pregnant, Beyoncé Knowles and hubby Jay-Z on their luxury yacht proving that acting really is the toughest job around…..

Keira Knightley didn’t disappoint either and her new film, A Dangerous Method, is getting rave reviews at the festival…as well as her outfit choices! She looked classy in a floor-length Valentino number, and modern in a vibrant Mary Katrantzou dress.

Then we have Madonna, who’s at the festival to promote her new film, W.E., which she directed, chose black and blue looks that show off her amazing bod. Not bad at 53.

Madonna has reportedly rekindled her romance with Brahim Zaibat.

The ‘Celebration’ singer was spotted with the French dancer in Paris this weekend, enjoying a meal at The Ritz hotel’s Espadon restaurant on Friday (24.06.11).

Madonna was then spotted visiting a flea market on her own the following day, before meeting back up with Brahim for a private dinner and heading to trendy nightspot the VIP Room, where the couple were seen kissing at the back of the club.

The next day they left the Ritz to catch the Eurostar train to London.

The couple got together last September after Madonna had split from Brazilian model Jesus Luz, introduced by a mutual friend who had asked Brahim to dance at one of the singer’s events.

Brahim insists he was never nervous about meeting the worldwide star, saying: “She was a woman almost like any other woman.

“I was really happy to meet her but I did not stress about it.”

Although Bahrim, 24, is a lot younger than the 52-year-old ‘Material Girl’ singer he also maintains he has a say in what happens in their relationship, adding:  “I am not the jealous kind. As long as I feel I am in control, everything goes smoothly. I cannot deal with external authority. Madonna and I are very alike when it comes to that.”

Madonna and Bahrim were initially thought to have split in May after his family said they didn’t want him attending meetings held by religious group Kabbalah – of which Madonna is a devotee – instead urging him to stick to his Muslim roots.

Madonna, Tom Cruise and Arnold Schwarzenegger’s estranged wife Maria Shriver were among the stars at the taping of Oprah Winfrey’s final chat show episodes.

Around 13,000 people attended the recording at the United Centre in Chicago – for two shows that will air on May 23 and 24, ahead of the last episode on May 25 – and saw the galaxy of celebrities pay tribute to the inspirational television presenter yesterday (17.05.11).

Cruise – who famously jumped up and down on the couch on the ‘Oprah Winfrey Show’ while discussing his love for Katie Holmes – claimed the 57-year-old personality taught people how to “change” themselves.

He told the audience: “You have always had the power to change lives. And that is the lesson you brought.”

Madonna revealed she admired Oprah because she was a “self made woman” who has shown people that hard work and determination pay off.

She said: “It’s no secret that millions of people are inspired by Oprah. She’s a self-made woman who’s been at the top of her game for over 25 years and she is still kicking ass and encouraging people to dream big to work hard, to read a book, to ask questions, to get an education no matter who you are or where you come from.”

Maria – who recently split from ‘Terminator’ actor Arnold after it was revealed he had fathered a secret love child with a member of their household staff – came on stage with Oprah’s friend Gayle King.

Speaking to the chat show host, Maria said: “You have given me love, support, wisdom and most of all truth.”

Jamie Foxx serenaded Oprah with a version of ‘Isn’t She Lovely‘, before the song’s original writer Stevie Wonder rose up from under the stage to perform a new track he had written specifically for her.

Beyonce Knowles also sang her new hit ‘Run the World (Girls)‘, while Josh Groban and Patti LaBelle sang ‘Over the Rainbow’ from ‘The Wizard of Oz’.

It was also announced at the end of the tapings that 25 new libraries are to be built across the US in Oprah’s honour, while Diane Sawyer added 25,000 oak trees will be planted in tribute to her.
