I’m always on the lookout for a go-to waxing location, and I think I may have hit upon one. Introducing Wax in the City. On the Bluebird end of Kings Road it’s local for Chelsea folk and hop and a skip away from central. The best part? They take walk-in appointments seven days a week, so if you find yourself surprised by a last-minute mini-break or indulge in a spontaneous spa weekend (because who wouldn’t do that?!), they’ve got you covered.
The facilities are rather gorgeous. You walk in to a modern setting that’s more akin to a contemporary hotel than a waiting room. You are led downstairs to a set of beautifully designed treatment rooms, all bright white and clean. There are no clinical and cluttered trollies to be seen, your therapist holds the syrup-like wax in a little pot as she works and collects more from outside if needed. Everything is evidently very carefully thought out, they must have had a feng-shui expert in!
They’re a wax-only location, and that alone should tell you the treatments are going to be on point. The brand was founded in Berlin back in 2005, and has locations in Germany, Switzerland, Ireland, Austria and now the UK. It’s a waxing empire! Think Starbucks for hair removal. Any branch you walk into you know the service will be good, and the results brilliant.
The therapists are highly trained at their school in Berlin, and you can tell. My therapist was quick, thorough and obviously very well schooled in set Wax in the City routines, that you never knew you needed. A quick run through of where she was going to wax next, a little count down, and the hot wax was whipped off. One of the most comfortable waxes around.
The wax is made up of very high quality natural beeswax, developed by the brand in Germany, that soothes and conditions the skin as it’s applied. Each product used is unique to Wax in the City, natural, and based on the nourishing and soothing properties of herbs and plants. Invest in the Aloe Spray, it’s an all-round product that will soothe anything from minor irritations to sunburn.
This place isn’t just a top waxing salon, it’s a full on beauty brand. Make sure to ask for a talk-through of the product range the next time you pop by.
