Columbia Beach Resort

fancy a dip in the Columbia Beach pool?

Right now this is where I would rather be, taking a long swim to the pool bar to take a sip from my Pina Colada gazing out to the sea in Cyprus.  Arriving at the Columbia Beach Resort is a real treat, about an hour from Lanarka airport, this lush green island feels a million miles away from my laptop and increasing inbox. I went for a short break to switch off, relax and meet Daniele de Winter who had just introduced her spa range from Monte Carlo to the 5* Columbia Beach Resort in Pissouri Bay.

We arrived at the hotel at around 7pm,  just as the sun was setting and sat on the terrace overlooking the spectacular pool which seemed to go on forever and lead your eyes straight out to the gorgeous blue sea.  The Seven C’s bar is the perfect place for a ‘sundowner’ and looking around we all decided that already we didn’t want to go home, always a good sign.

The resort is laid out like a traditional village made up of 94 deluxe suites each with their own terrace or balcony looking out to the sea. Facilities at the hotel are to a high standard, particularly the food. It’s clear they have recognised that eating well is an important part of a luxury break and goes towards making the holiday experience memorable.

Local ingredients are used to produce traditional Greek meals like Meze, Dolmades and Moussaka. This was the best Greek food I had tasted, even a simple Feta salad tasted so good,  I could have lived off that happily, but the rest of the menu was so tempting I did over indulge – even though this was a press trip I did feel like I was on holiday. We all did, the staff at the spa and the hotel made sure of it. Victoria, the spa manager was lovely and could not have been more helpful or accomodating. We all agreed that good staff at a hotel can absolutely make or break your holiday regardless of the hotel itself.

The hotel is also the perfect place for weddings or a girly weekend away, there was plenty of space for privacy. The grounds leading to the sea and pool area were immaculate, and the best part was the pool bar. It’s very Sexy Beast, if only I could have shared a Pina Colada with Ray Winstone my stay would have been complete. If you’re reading this by any chance Ray, I’m hoping to pop back in Sept….Room 104.

We had a Gala Dinner on Saturday night that was prepared by the hotel chef using ingredients as recommended by Daniele to help benefit a healthy complexion.

We started with a Shot Beaute and the meal followed including healthy courses of baby spinach, quinoa and sunflower seeds. Salmon, beetroot, asparagus, poached black cod in a lemon broth, my mouth is watering just thinking of it. Everything was carefully worked out to provide a low fat, high protein dinner that did totally satisfy you but you could leave the table without feeling bloated. After 7 courses that’s pretty impressive!

The spa provides a full range of good treatments and is well equipped with a gym and a really luxurious inside relaxation area around the pool that looked out to the sea. Bliss. I would love to go back here, and so far the pool area in this resort beats any other I’ve been to for privacy and luxury.
