Al Fresco Dining at Accords in Montreal

Al Fresco Dining at Accords in Montreal

On my recent trip to Montreal I ate at three great restaurants, Accords Wine Bar and Restaurant, Kitchenette and M sur Masson.

I was in Montreal during July, in the midst of festival season, Just For Laughs had just started and the city was bathed in glorious sunshine and buzzing with visitors. I was there to see the latest show by Cirque de Soleil show and have a tour of their HQ, where all the costumes were made.

Our first evening was spent at Accords, which is the heart of Old Montreal, with a charming outdoor patio where we enjoyed our delicious dinner. The high walled, private terrace is tucked away from the street and was packed on our visit on a warm July evening.
They specialise in tempting you with the perfect wine to accompany every dish, but also suggest a curve ball choice to try too if you are feeling adventurous, they have over 50 wines served by the glass. My starter was called ‘Attack of the Killer Tomatoes’ made with Quebec Heirloom tomatoes, aged balsamic, parmigiano reggiano ice-cream. I could have eaten it as my main meal, it was deliciously fresh and tasty and the presentation for all of our dishes was impressive. Attention to detail didn’t mean small portions, we all ate very well and enjoyed our choices, I would go back there for dinner and a glass of pink wine and spend the evening under the stars very happily

Kitchenette

A meal at Kitchenette is a must for anyone visiting Montreal, the food, service, cocktails and ambience hit all the right spots. The Texan chef and owner makes comfort food with his own style of sophistication. Traditional dishes like fish and chips and beef bourguignon are served with his own clever twist, the food here is melt in the mouth, with a “wow that’s good..” with every mouthful.
The cocktails and drinks are made with the same care and attention, really friendly staff, this would be my local if I lived there without a doubt.

M sur Masson

From the outside this looks like a simple French bistro, but by 6pm the restaurant was packed, which on a Saturday night..

I started with a Mi-Cuit de Salmon Biologique with salade d’edamame, chiogga, yuzu..which translates as a very yummy salmon salad, see photo. Followed by probably the tasties steak, frites and salad I’ve ever had,(English people will understand when I say it was Hawksmoor standard). My pudding looked so irresistible on the dessert menu, I had to have it, it was a kind of lemon curd and white chocolate posh trifle with a matcha green tea cake on the side, my mouth still waters when I think about it now. Excellent food, another one to add to your list for a special dining experience in Montreal.
