We’ve got a brand new column hitting BATD each monday of every fortnight… and it’s straight from Miami! The lovely Hannah Shapiro is bringing the sun to our wintery shores with her feature on everything from life, love and her busy social calendar.

Check out this fortnight’s feature where Hannah chats Tod’s AW11 line, Tom Ford Beauty and the super fit mentality it takes to live in Miami!

Living in Miami tends to be just what it’s cracked up to be–balmy climes; beautiful people and glamorous soirees.  And as my consultancy is the social media planner for Bal Harbour Shops, which is the infamous luxury shopping center in America, I have to keep up with it all.

It’s really quite amazing that through I have recounted so many years and stories.  From my first Carrie Bradshaw-esque columnist navigating my way through the Manhattan social scene and dating horrors, to first-time Mom and new wife once I moved to Miami, and now as an entrepreneur growing my consultancy, navigating the Miami social scene… and experiencing dating horrors once again as a divorcee (Gasp!)!

It’s been a busy couple of weeks.  Last Wednesday Tod’s launched their new Signature Collection and so Suzy Buckley and Ocean Drive hosted an event at the Bal Harbour store.  I’m in love with the rich jewel tones and the new look they have lent the leather with this departure from the iconic gommino – those chic little nubs which first appeared on the driving shoe and made its way onto many others of Tod’s leather goods. We sipped the mandatory cocktail and nibbled on hor d’oeuvres as we got to preview the Tod’s Fall/Winter 2011-2012 collection. The Signature Collection , which is both luxurious and wearable, includes a shoulder bag, a portfolio clutch, a small trunk style, a shopper, a soft envelope clutch and a pochette bag in a color palette ranging from vivid, deep red, black, electric blue, violet and fuchsia to more subtle shades of lavender, beige and cream. A portion of the proceeds from the night were donated to the Miami Art Museum so we dug deep and shopped for a good cause.

We’ve also been busy hyping up last night’s kick-off event for the Key to the Cure shopping weekend, which raises money for women fighting cancer.  With Giuliana Rancic’s announcement on Monday that she is currently fighting breast cancer the charity event could not be more timely and we had a great attendance.  The annual event is held at Bal Harbour’s Saks Fifth Avenue every year and Saks always asks a fashion designer to create the fundraising t-shirt.  This year Elie Tahari has designed the shirt, which will be sold in Saks stores across the country throughout breast cancer awareness month.
