If you fancy a bit of pampering, check out the beachfront spa which has a massive thalosso pool equipped with various underwater high pressure jets and fountains to massage the legs, neck and back. Check out the fantastic jacuzzi beds and osmanic steam baths, saunas and relaxation room. Guests are invited to a complimentary thalossotherapy session once during their stay. Or you can of course take a dip in one of the outside pools, the Club has a seawater and a freshwater pool.

The Marbella Club Hotel also has a world-class 18-hole, private golf course embedded in the hills of Benahavis. Complimentary shuttles operate throughout the day and take guests to the course which is twenty minutes away. The beautifully manicured greens are a nivana for golfers. Designed by Dave Thomas (he designed The Belfry, venue of the 2002 Ryder Cup), here you will find carefully contoured fairways, waterfalls, lakes and strategically placed bunkers. Hole 18 affords spectacular views of Gibraltar and the North African coastline, the golf course also has a fantastic Clubhouse. Jorge, who manages the Clubhouse’ restaurant told me that the land was formerly a farm and was transformed ten years ago into this stunning golf course. He also said the Marbella Club Hotel had bought the vast land behind the course, with the intention of building another hotel. This land has charm and natural beauty and the traditional Spanish village of Benahavis is located in this area. As is the Princes’ legacy and Club ethos, the new hotel would work in harmony with the people and local area and its close proximity to the golf course would benefit golfers, another string to The Marbella Club’s bow.

The Prince’s passion for The Marbella Club Hotel lives on. Hotel staff continue his legacy by their dedication to their work. Friendly and efficient, many of the staff have worked at the hotel for decades. They describe themselves as a ‘family’. You couldn’t find a more knowledgeable concierge than Roman Gonzalez who has worked at The Marbella Club for 40 years

This exclusive resort is definitely the jewel in Prince Alfonso’s crown and continues to live on as a perpetual memory, not only of his creativity but also of his passion for beautiful things.
