Travelling First Class on East Coast

The Prince decided to take a weekend break visiting a part of Yorkshire which is beautiful in its countryside and most enticing in its lifestyle offer to the discerning traveller.  We were staying near Beverley; a town with a thriving weekly market and a minster which stands on a site dating back over 1300 years, His Majesty was in a buoyant mood

We were travelling First Class with National Express and we were keen to try the “At Seat” food and drinks menu; a quick and efficient service whereby the carriage attendants bring everything to your seat.  His Highness ordered an East Coast Fish Pie and a selection of seasonal vegetables whilst I opted for a fillet steak sandwich.  A bottle of Pinot Grigio 2007/8 Villa Sandi, Veneto, Italy, accompanied the meal and was soon complimented by a selection of fine cheeses served with savoury biscuits, fresh celery and sliced apple.  After dinner I plugged in my laptop and made good use of the onboard WI-FI before arriving at Hull in less than 3 hours.

We were staying at The Chapel; a delightful two bedroom converted chapel located in the village of Little Weighton, approximately 5 miles from Beverley and ideal for a weekend retreat.  The Chapel’s stylish, contemporary ground floor open-plan living space was quite stunning with its central sweeping staircase, leading up to two separate bedrooms; a beautiful double with en suite bathroom called The Cala for His Highness and a twin bedded room called The Iris with en suite shower room for me.  As with most travel days The Prince decided to relax that night, so with the wall mounted fireplace switched on, a freshly made G&T in hand and a few snacks prepared by my good self, His Highness kicked back on one of the three sumptuous sofas placed in the lounge area and watched a movie on the 42” LCD screen.
