Washbourne Court Hotel

Washbourne Court Hotel

Ok girls, ever dreamed of that beautiful country hotel; a river running at the bottom of the courtyard, ducks strutting around, weeping willow tree’s and idyllic scenery? Well we’ve found that dream at the beautiful Washbourne Court hotel in the Cotwolds.

Washbourne Court is in the heart of the Cotswolds in Lower Slaughter, one of thee most beautiful places I have ever been. This really is a destination for relaxation, fine dining and romantic strolls. The hotel belongs to the von Essen hotel group, which boasts a vast selection of country retreats.

Washbourne Court has 30 beautiful bedrooms, equipped with huge cosy beds, fabulous freestanding baths to pamper yourself in and rolling hillside views to top it off. It’s quite an intimate hotel and very popular for weddings and romantic weekends away.

After we’d checked in, we relaxed in the Scholars lounge in big comfy sofa’s next to a huge log fire. We ate a late lunch; sandwiches and kettle chips, yum, and read the weekend papers, whilst we took in the views of the many ramblers – we stayed cosy inside obviously – it looked liked such hard work!

If you want to spice up your weekend then I’d recommend the Aphrodisiac in-room menu which is a fun quirky treat; a fabulous selection of fresh summer fruit, hot chocolate sauce, avocado and asparagus spears topped off with a bottle of bubbly. If you even make it to dinner without being covered in chocolate sauce then well done! Needless to say we were a tad tipsy, but very happy by the time we sat in the Eton dining room for a three course dinner.

Dinner at The Eton Restaurant

Dinner at The Eton Restaurant

The Eton restaurant does not serve your average hotel food, here you get British food at its very best. I had beautifully presented Seared King Scallops with butternut squash puree and my partner had Roasted Wood Pigeon, we were oo’ing and arr’ing all the way through. We followed that with Gloucester Belly Pork and Loch Duart Salmon, all was absolutely fabulous and a restaurant destination in itself. We then fell into our huge cosy bed to watch a film on the flat screen TV.

This is truly a great weekend get-away, you can reside in the hotel for the weekend or take beautiful country walks and breathe in the fresh-air and countryside views, at only 1hr 30 from central London in the car, it’s the perfect little treat!
